Curious as to the ident of a photograph I saw while on holiday last week in France, outside a shop - it was either - likely - a run of stills from a movie, or a street photograph (less likely).
Seemed to be a chap in a bowler hat, full moustache, looking half at camera with quizzical expression. There looked to be another chap in background, beside a wall - having a slash I think.
I know it's probably an iconic scene from some French classic, but Google is not throwing up much. Also sure I've seen it in others places, this was outside a baker in rural French small town.
Thanks!
le voleur?
it's plausible - similar get-up - but annoyingly can't find the image in any related search..
I think that's kind of the point..
aye, I should have snapped it at the time!

Excellent 🙂
One man has found a gap to peek through
so its a glory hole?
When you said it was on display in France it pretty much had to be Cartier-Bresson or Robert Capa. I just added "moustache" to the search and voila!
Should have though of Cartier-Bresson, he was a bit of a photographic hero, along with Ansel Adams, a man who’s work I could only aspire to, but never, ever match:
