We need to find a non-biking holiday for a week due to a Ms AD's wrist injury and always fancied going to the Picos.
Any suggestions on where to stay, that would minimise driving for day hikes?
thanks
Potes.
Casa Cayo in Potes is fab
thanks
Camp site in/above Potes was great 8yrs ago. Lots of folk doing walk to Santiago mixed with Spanish teenagers and families.
The Spanish national trust equivalent run a place at Fuentes that was good as well.
Another vote for Potes. We stayed here in Tudes. which is a only 6 miles from Potes. Lots of walks from the doorstep.
Soto de sajambre is lovely, very high village and walking from there to high meadows and peaks. The hostel is the nicest place we stayed.
Another vote for Potes, lovely part of the world.
Get yourselves up to Fuente De,there's a cable car that takes you into the mountains. It's different to the Alps/Pyrenees...

San Vicente de la Barquera is quite nice, too. As a coastal alternative to Potes for a night or two.

+1
We stayed there on the way to Picos. It's a really chilled out place
Also, if you can't get a room in Casa Cayo try to eat there. The food is amazing
If you've got a car, I'd also add Barcenillas (and the Saja-Besaya Natural Park) to the list of places worth visiting.
Edit: realised you've got a car 🙂
