Might not be the NHS but the health service is pretty good here!
Got registered with a doctor back in January and due to my UC she put me in for colonoscopy, ECG and bloods.
Moviprep is the medication of choice, blood test done today, ECG tomorrow morning and the procedure in the afternoon ..... Moviprep started tonight .... going to be an interesting night... and day!! 😬
Good luck 🙂
I've recently had the 'Kiwi Experience"
Refered by GP due to reaching 50 with a family history of Ulcerative Colitis, Celiac disease and Bowel Cancer.
GP didn't believe the blood test available now is thorough enough. Usually here in NZ you have to wait till 55yrs for a colonoscopy.
2 weeks later referral was picked up by private system as they seem to take up the slack when public system is log jammed so by passed the 3-4 month wait and was able to pick a time and found myself at a very posh clinic after a Low fibre diet for two days then the picolax equivalent and NBM. Midazolam (see STW thread), Woke up, lift home and I even got given some holiday snaps which I shared with my siblings.
Very impressed with the service and the standard of care
Enjoy pissing out your arse for twelve hours (and with that in mind get some Vaseline it will ease your discomfort)
All 'movi'ng well so far! 😄 It's going to be a long day!
Thanks Ross, hope all is well, you still in Cornwall? Looking forward to getting my bike back to get out again, five months and hardly a pedal turned!
Anyone else in Portugal? We've had a few issues with getting Mrs Moe registered, it seems a lot of health center receptionists seem to not understand the new post brexshit system at all.
Well that all went very well, I was put under for the procedure and had a lovely nap, woke up none the worse for wear! I can't praise the hospital staff enough, they were all brilliant and so efficient.
Glad it went well for you
Some others on the Midazolam thread seemed to be still awake or not sedated at all.
I don't know about you but I felt really good/healthy afterwards and it made me wonder whether the experience is similar to colonic irrigation which is heralded by some as a de-tox.
Definitely felt fine, it was a good nap. To be fair though, the last two times (in UK) I felt good after getting out, just the mental trauma of remembering the discomfort of it. It seems my pipes are particularly twisty though so again caused problems with how far they could go.
You’ll be glad yer not in the UK they give ye Kleanprep which is bolk
3 sachets which is like 3/4 litres of water
Not nice at all,had copious colonoscopy over the years due to UC and Crohns but now have a bag for life haha which has gave me a new lease of life
When I was due the scope I would ask for fleet or picklax as it was way less to drink to start the move
I lived in Suffolk in the UK and was given Moviprep both times.
