It will be a to z this Saturday night in a "sound clash" take it turns format. I want to be king of the dj's and smash the opposition. Must be band or artist as the a to z not the track. Any genre but make them count!

This is cheating yes. After a few beers I seem to have a mental block and forget names of bands/which song I'm after.
Actually consider it as planning/revision. 😆

What's the crowd? You going to get more credit for dance? Rock? Indie? and how commercial or otherwise are you thinking?

First B that popped into my head:

Basement Jaxx - Rendez-Vous

Is The *insert bandname* counted as T or what follows?

i.e is The Heavy counted as coming under T or H?

Anyway:

E = Elf Kid - Golden Boy

You can't go in all guns blazing.

Start it off with a bit of a switch hit?

A Tribe Called Quest - Description of a Fool (Groove Armada acoustic mix)

The crowd is just a small gathering of 6 at my house. We've not done it for a while and it would appear battle lines have been drawn based on the texts flying about 😀
All 40 ish, ex house heads, 80s fans, rock is fine, anything that bangs. Must let the neighbours know 😳

After a few beers I seem to have a mental block

Bit early for that isn't it? Actually, what the hell, its nearly the weekend, I'll join you. (heads to bar to get a 3/4 pint measure of craft beer served in a jam jar)

Anyway in no particular alphabetical order, but presuming people will be more or less awake mid-alphabet

M - Money Mark - Information Contraband
P - Pepe Deluxe - A Night and a Day

If you want to get off to a flying start though

A - Avalanches - With My Baby

Ok, how about a bit of hip-hop?
Common - Go
NWA - Straight Outta Compton

Or from the UK:
Giggs - Look what the Cat Dragged In
Skepta - Shutdown
The Streets - Blinded by the Lights
Wiley - Wearing my Rolex

Or for a more dance based theme:
Death in Vegas - Aisha
Frankie Knuckles - Your Love
Kosheen - Catch
Mansun - Wide Open Space, Perfecto Mix
Rhythm on the Loose - Break of Dawn

And out of my Dad Rock playlist:
Buzzcocks - Ever Fallen in Love
Dire Straits - Sultans of Swing
Led Zepplin - Immigrant Song
Simply Red - Fairground (I guarantee this will get you some love!)
The Undertones - Teenage Kicks

I'd be going for a mainly late 80's - early 90's Second Summer of Love / Baggy / Madchester vibe with a few rock nuggets for flavour.

Off the top of my head...

AC DC - Thunderstruck
Charlatans - North Country boy
D-Mob - We call it acieed
EMF - Unbelievable
House of pain - Jump Around
Inspiral Carpets - Saturn 5
Jesus Jones - International Bright young things
KLF - Last Train to transcentral
New Order - Blue Monday
Rush - Spirit of Radio
Stone roses - Fools Gold

The crowd is just a small gathering of 6

6 people x 26 tracks x 3.5 minutes = your saturday night is going to be over 9hrs long 🙂

So I'm going to suggest
Y - Yello "Live at the Roxy"
as its over 20min long - giving you time to make breakfast before 'Z'

It's done in couples so as to add to the conflict Mr and Mrs x have to agree on the same track before hitting play!

The gathering is now 4. It's a straight battle between us and them now. Each track is judged via the 4 folk with as little bias as is possible.
Some arguing may ensue 😀
