Ooops already posted that one lol
A phone shot from today that came out better than I expected:
Taken at new year on a moody day on the Ullswater Way

I love Ullswater. Lake Garda with interesting beer.
Beautiful, isn't it? It was bloody raw cold that day! As you can tell by the water, it was a bit blowy with an absolutely biting wind howling in off the lake! Luckily there was a pub with a big fire at the end of the walk.
We're off back up there in two weeks for a long weekend to celebrate my half-century on the planet. Plenty of interesting beer will be partaken. 😀
Phone pic from a short walk around Digley Reservoir today.

Just a phone shot, but I did enjoy sitting with a cuppa watching the sun come up.
Sorry. Made a right hash of posting a pic.
Taken in Tenby a few weeks ago getting to grips with my new camera...
Nice, where's that?

V nice Flaperon.
Not amazing, but took me ages to snap this little blighter.
.
Love that Ullswater photo, that’s stunning! Really like the aurora photos, too, difficult to get a good photo at the best of times! I’ve seen them, just outside of Avebury, lasted two or three minutes, about one in the morning, and no camera.
Eskay, that looks like a Bee fly, I get them in my garden quite often.
This one I took with my phone a week or so ago...
@countzero, yes it is a bee fly. Only ever see them very briefly at this time of year, they make a bloody racket and bomb around all over!!!
Great pic
Good aurora pics as well, I managed to get a good photo of them in Finland over Christmas (on previous page of this thread). I was on 30s exposure time.
Finally getting the hang of using the Tilt Shift without having to think too much about what I'm doing.
Its not much, but its a start.
Really want to go for a ride with the cameras and a tripod but I think that is pretty obvious it is not for exercise...
Been a while since I’ve seen this thread pop up so thought I’d resurrect it. Moved to Sheffield a few days ago and saw this tree covered in ice on a murky dog walk. But the forecast was for a cracking day to follow do headed off at dawn to see what I could do. It’s reinvigorated my love of photography with the SLR, although this was just a quick snap with the iPhone
Incredible photo, great pic to resurrect this thread.

Warwickshire epicness
Nice!
Hopefully this thread gets reinvigorated as we move into spring 🙂
Here's one off the top of Mam Tor last week - I give up trying to embed it??!!!
How do you embed from Instagram - I've just spent 15 mins and still none the wiser!! Anyway, here's a copy of the Mam Tor shot hosted elsewhere

Great work Kayak, have always wanted to catch a murmuration that big.
How do you embed from Instagram
I believe you can't anymore. Not sure why but seemingly STW don't want you to so that excellent feature has gone.
Great work Kayak, have always wanted to catch a murmuration that big.
It was absolutely mind blowing to be honest. I'm completely humbled by it, even though they pooed on my face 😂

Where is it? Is it Burbage?
I'd say so - taken from Higger Tor
Yep, Burbage from Higger Tor.
dashed jnr was up at 5:30am today so decided to pop out again and make the most of the nice weather. Big temperature inversion - +3C on the tops and -3C in the valley.
I was heading to Mam Tor then saw how many folk were up there when I arrived before sunrise - must have been 50 folk up there!! So last minute change of plan and did Winnats. It's not original but it was a cracking morning 🙂

Few recent ones from me - took a week off work to use up some leave and had a wander to the local nature reserve one afternoon. Don't normally shoot wildlife of any form, but there was seed out for the birds and that put them in a decent range!

Snap on the commute home last week.
Doing a photo a day again this year,it's been very calming and good to take more notice of the day to day stuff.
In my back garden just now. I've seen the aftermath plenty of times, first time I've caught him still eating.
It's Alive!
Went to the zoo today. Got one of those cool but cliched 'calendar' shots.
Plus a few other more interesting (ie - a bit over processed for most tastes) bits.
Brighton, one evening
Wondered what had happened to this thread. Here's my recent visit to Chester Zoo.

Took the dog (and the proper camera) to the beach this evening. Dog not interesting enough to feature in the photos...
Nice to see this thread back, great animal photos (both sets).
Messing about with some misty scenes I took today. Realised I've never really had the camera out when it is foggy...
@dannybgoode I find fog really hard to deal with. Got this today though that I'm kind of happy with.
Plus a few other recent things...
@colournoise - it was interesting seeing what I could come up with. Pretty please for first efforts 🙂
Hi Colournoise
Just want to let you know that your photos are always immediately recognisable without being boring and clichéd. Nice collection of work you must have by now.
Two slightly contrasting ones from the weekend in the Lakes, above and below an inversion.
The Bass Rock, Tantallon Castle and my 6cyl growler
🤔
@Pyro - I like those. Next time it is foggy I want to get up into the hills to try and get above it also 🙂
Cheers @dannybgoode! I was out event shooting for a winter Ultra and conditions were utterly glorious, I spent as much time shooting landscape-type stuff as I did trying to get shots of the participants...

Thanks eddie!
I do cultivate a certain style (I have a few 'rules' of composition I follow and a pretty specific post-processing routine), and this is something I try to encourage in my students too - good or bad, I want to be able to recognise their work without there being a name on it.
Enjoyed the fog yesterday.

Ignore this message as I can't get the image to display.
This might be one of the best landscape photographs I've ever taken.
(I genuinely don't mind the digital noise - I'm a really stubborn believer in truth to materials...)
And a few other recent things that aren't quite as good as that...
Pembrokeshire beach, New Year’s Day 2022:
2 months late, but just going through my photos and saw this one again around remembrance time me and my son playing a local football match
☝Nice shot. I love the sun's rays and shadows.
A foggy walk in Lancs. last week
Bit of lofi Magic Realism from tonight's dog walk.
Great to have this thread back. iPhone pic from a snowy run before Christmas on Big Moor (Peak District)
How the heck do you embed Instagram images again?!?

The automatic Insta embedding has sadly gone away...
My friend Ivan
^ That reminds me of the artist Vermeer.
