Can anyone suggest a good decent phone holder for the car please?

I have purchased 2 before and they were utter crap!

I've got a magnetic one that sticks on the dashboard. Well to the right so it's out of my eyeline and only used as satnav by the way. There's a slim steel sticky plate behind the case for it to grab, works really well and isn't a massive screen mounted suction arm or blocking the air vents. Came from Amazon.

I used to have them stuck to the window, they drop off and are a pain when paying for parking etc so got one that clamps on to the aircon grill. Perfection for about seven quids.

These are excellent if your vents are compatible. Discreet and hold the phone really well in both our cars

Same style as tthew here. Little magnetic thing with a metal plate now insite the back of the phone case. So much easier than trying to get it in and out of a clamp everytime. Can just about throw it at the mount and it sticks. Only slight issue is it's a very permanent mount. The adhesive promoter wipe that comes with it practically started to melt the bit of dash trim that I applied it to. But, to it's credit, that mount is never going to fall off.
Comes with multiple shapes of metal plates too so can do more than one phone.

Brodit + magnet = solid.

I tend to buy a bigger square magnet, stick the matching magnet inside the phone case (you do have a phone case, yes?).

Grill Clip one. I don't like the magnet based one as if you have a compass it can slowly screw with it

I've also got a magnetic one, the disc on the back of my phone isn't noticeable under my silicone case and it hasn't fallen off in the car. I have an apps2u (I think) from Amazon which sticks to the windscreen. I've previously tried ones that stick in a vent or to the dash and they either move whilst driving or get in the way of the radio/air con controls

I bought a cheap "stick in a vent" one, it kind of does the job, but does sag slowly over time. It's an ex-police car so has the odd hole drilled here and there, including four in a square on the dash just above the vent by the offside A pillar, presumably for that very reason - keep meaning to buy a mount to fit in/over those holes.

Magnetic phone holder + wireless charging = game changer 😃

I bought an ESR HaloLock - purely because it was the first one on the market (it's been great though)

I've used this for years.

Sticks really well to your dashboard. No faffing about with vents or suction cups. Looks way better than a big plastic object.

Xiaomi Mi Car Charger, WCJ02ZM https://amzn.eu/2orp1ro

I've got one of these. It works really well plus it has the novelty of sensors that automatically open the clamp as the phone gets near.

It has a little mount that sticks onto the dash which I have always found is the best way of doing it as long as there's space in your car.

Lap, left hand or right hand seem to be most popular around here.

We use a brodit car specific mount for the car, then attach a flat magnet mount to that, as my wife and I have different phones and it allows us to both us it

Solid but not cheap. Used in some commercial airlines and my van, Flightstore in Leeds was the cheapest retailer at the time
