Watchya got that’s any good- apparently using hands is frowned upon.

Last couple I’ve had have had suction pads but they’re not really suction pads as they’re covered in a nasty horrible goo that stays on the window when the rest of the holder breaks and you try and remove it or the whole lot falls off the window.

I think there's some info missing here. Where are you wanting to hold your phone?

Good point - the wind shield of a Car to be able to sat nav sort of thing since I’m not blessed with apple Car play or whatever the latest thing is and the in built nav is dumb to traffic updates

I’m a big fan of a Brodit proclip - preferably the ones that clamp to the car rather than clipping into an air vent. Expensive, but solid. They usually mount to the a pillar so nicely in the corner out of the way.

Brodit Proclip if it’s long term thing that you’ll be using a lot.

Otherwise I’ve got a Belkin one that goes on a vent and does a good job, wouldn’t want to put anything bigger than my iPhone Pro 13 in it though. Like this but must be an older version as it’s not exactly the same https://amzn.eu/d/8g60wPq

I’ve got a couple of screen mount jobbies that are just like one of those big hair-grip things with a suction cup attached. Cost me about £7 off eBay, used one of them last night because my mates old Polo has just a basic radio and we needed some satnav guidance. I used the exact same one for two years in hundreds of different cars and vans while driving thousands of miles all over England and South Wales, as well as in my own old Skoda.
A wee bit wobbly at times, but perfectly usable and cheap enough to buy two or three just in case of loss or damage.

This is the one I used, pretty basic, but it doesn’t use any adhesive, just the suction cup, and it doesn’t wobble much if you adjust it so it sits low on the screen with the bottom clip resting on the top of the dash. Once you get the ideal spot, the suction cup leaves a small circular mark, or else you just leave it attached.

My car now has CarPlay, so no need for a phone holder.

Don’t get the ones with the long bendy bit, they wobble horribly!

Ram Mount FTW. Not cheap though https://www.ram-mount.co.uk/ I bought mine from a pilot shop that was cheapest at the time
Used in aircraft, but I like them not because they make my 1.5D feel like an F15 but because you can alter where the "fingers" sit so that they don't touch buttons while securing the phone

Don’t put it on your windscreen – its for looking thru

I landscape-mount my phone so that it doesn't obscure my view any more than the bonnet does already. It's the best place for me because it's in front of the air bag deployment zone

I like the vent mount type as long as your vents are compatible. Keeps the phone well away from the windscreen.

I've got one of these in each of our cars and it's the best solution I've come across so far. It holds the phone still, whereas all the windscreen mount ones bounce around IME.

Brodit pro clip and magnet mount.

Windscreen is for looking through, not mounting things to.

I recently bought a mous magsafe case and a magsafe vent mount phone holder that charges the phone wirelessly.
Works really well.

Bought it from eBay for £13

I’ve used a quadlock one, suction cup, doesn’t wobble at all.

Not exactly cheap though.

Another with a magnetic mount that sticks to the dashboard - use it in two cars, works great. Just pop the metal sheet in your phone case

On the off-chance that you have a Mini from the early 2000s, then this one is great 🙂

If you've got a Quad Lock phone case I can sell you a 3D printed vent mount for £10. I used to sell them on ebay but quadlock got a bit shirty, even though they were clearly listed as 'compatible', I wasn't suggesting they were an official product.

re: Brodit

if I get an A-pillar mount, what do I need to attach my OnePlus phone to it via magnets?

Is there a magnet device to go on the back of my phone case and the Brodit mount?
