So I'm having an issue with my Pixel 2, in that when on a call, the person on the other end can't hear me unless I blow at the speaker, which comes through loud and clear. Which says to me the microphone is working to a certain extent.
A bit of Googling suggests that this has been a bit of a problem with them but no one else suggests that blowing can be heard but nothing else. In fact lots of people say that blowing into the bottom speaker solves the issue, but unfortunately not in my case.
Long shot, but anyone got any suggestions?
I would ask if the microphone opening is full of gunk/dust.... but looks like the opening is really large on the Pixel. Still, the port on the mic itself will be tiny and potentially blocked, perhaps that's why blowing works for some because it clears it.
I've had a few Pixels with varying mic problems.
On my original Pixel, calling only worked on speaker phone. You could try that? (There are two mics - a close up on and a longer distance one)
That wasn't fixable - it's an issue with soldering or something. May also apply to Pixel 2s, not sure.
Had similar on Pixel 3a - blowing in the hole didn't fix it, but giving it a few whacks with your palm sorted it.
May not help, but gives you a couple of things to try?
Hmm, just got a pixel 2 from CEX and it has done this once (caller couldn't hear me, I could hear them).
I get this sometimes if I sit at one end of my bedroom. But it's happened for years on three or four different phones.
Thanks chaps, will give the banging a go, I'll also try giving it a bang.
Speaker phone works, as does recording video. It's bloody annoying.
