My phone (Samsung S10 running Android 11) has just started voice announcing the arrival of my WhatsApp messages. Think it's just WhatsApp but can't be sure. How can I make it stop?
I think it's the Google assistant but I've tried loads of things and can't turn it off.
Any ideas?
it's probably in the accessibility menu, and you turned something on for folks who have impaired vision.
In the apple eco-system it's called voice -over or spoken content. there's probably something similar in android.
Must surely be in the whatsapp settings (3 dots top right). Notification settings
(or maybe what he said!)
Have check the assessibilty settings, doesn't appear to be anything in there. It's driving me mad!
Watching this because mine does the same!
Seems to have stopped. I did do an inadvertent reboot when I rang out of battery so hopefully that's the end of it. We'll wait and see...
Don't want swmbo knowing you've got a WhatsApp message? 🤣
Ha, most of the messages are from her family group. It's more that it did it at 6:30 this morning. "Two new messages in group, press such and such button to read". I don't need it to actually tell me I have a message, a beep is fine
Mine was only when I had headphones in, there is a setting deep within Google assistant settings for turning announcements off per app when on headphones.
