Random txt message from Barclays (or possibly not).
Hello, this is a message from Barclays. As restrictions are lifting, our Relationship Team are ready to support your banking needs and life moments. Please reply to this message with a time and date for us to call you. We can call between 9.30am and 4.30pm Monday to Thursday or Friday between 10am and 3.30pm. Your Barclays Premier Team.
from 60179 rather than the normal random mobile phone number which most phishing txts use.
What do you reckon? The lack of personalisation says Phishing, but then Barclays Relationship Team do seem pretty crap, so maybe not.
NB I would never reply, answer or speak to any bank txt or phone call anyway, as it's just not worth the risk. Also the whole point of mobile banking is you don't have to speak to anyone!
Sounds like phishing to me. Even if it's not, if I want to speak to the bank I'll call them.
That looks like phishing to me.
if I want to speak to the bank
I'm struggling to think of an occasion when I've ever wanted to speak to a bank!
Even if it's real they're only trying to flog me poor value for money savings accounts / ISAs / SIPPs.
If you are a Barclays customer just ring them up and ask if they sent it? 🤷♂️

If you get an email or text that claims to be from us but looks suspicious, please forward it, along with any attachments if possible, to internetsecurity@barclays.com
I’d say in balance it’s a smishing message.
Banks will usually, if not always personalise messages with your name etc.
If you are a Barclays customer just ring them up and ask if they sent it? 🤷♂️
If I was actually bothered, all that would happen is I'd be put through to an Indian call centre who would have no idea what the other Indian call centre, who deal with marketing, are up to! I'd then be stuck on hold for 20 mins while he spoke to his supervisor, he'd then get back to me and say they're transferring me to another department and the phone would go dead.
