2015 partner tepee outdoor.
Bought some new rims to have winter tires mounted as the Michelin premacys fitted are a liability in the north east winter damp wet frosty roads.
Got the rims off faceache
Will order some nokian winter's from my friendly tire fitter on Monday
What do I need for the tpms - never had this dang fancy pish before
Does the partner have valve based tpms or use abs tto monitor wheel rotations ?
What happens if I don't fit tpms valves on the winter's -does it just light a light or will it make a racket ?
Tire pressures get checked regularly anyway and I'm not on run flats so you tend to notice a flat pretty quickly.
I was told that my 2014 BMW has the TPMS valves because it's 4wd (xDrive) and that the regular rear wheel drive variants use the ABS-based system.
I've fitted winters that don't have the TPMS valves and I have to acknowledge a warning light every time I start the car - no biggie. I'm told that it's an MOT fail though, so I'll have to get it sorted before September (probably back on summer tyres by then anyway).
I have the TPMS valves on the 19s I took off and I plan to fit them to the new 18 summer rims I've bought. The local tyre fitting place did raise the question as to whether the rims need to be TPMS specific ie have a recess for the valve to sit. Not sure if that's pish or not though as you can buy the valves on eBay without any mention of that.
Interesting .
I can live with acknowledging a warning in winter/shoulder seasons.- hell up here id be better mounting the winter's on the alloys and putting the summers on the steelies haha.
It's strange because none of the mytires packages they were selling as bolt on and go mentioned tpms.....
Cheers old tennis shoes.
Been rooting round their site via Google links never saw the check with reg on their front page.
Looks like I need 4 new sensors or I live with the light....
Hummm.
It'll moan at you that it doesn't know the tyre pressure, my 407SW does, but not in a major or distracting way beyond the first 5-10 minutes of use.
Can be turned off by someone with peugeot planet. Or you can fit the sensors, there's a few different brands that all use the same sensor type, think the bmw mini's do too, not that they'll be cheaper than pug...
I have Peugeot planet how ever itll fail not as it's too new....
I can get my tires mail order for 45 quid a piece (nokians wrd4s) and E tyres will come to my house and clone my current tpms sensors without removing the tire using i-sensor universal technology and mount my.tires for 270 quid.
Worth it for everything to work seemlessly given we will likely have the car for a long time AND the mot is mid winter(tpms light on is a fail) and I don't want to have to change the wheels 4 times a year - and will probably wipe out on the way to the garage on summers in winter -absolutely shocking grip once you have been used to driving on appropriate tires for conditions -why anyone would persevere driving on marbles is beyond me
On a slightly related note...my 2014 Pug Partner Outdoor wasn't detected by the diagnostic software...the BSI was (think that is it) but the ecu wasn't so the cruise control couldn't be activated fully. Dash detected it was activated but ecu didn't know so it wouldn't work. Was told it was possibly too new for the diagnostic stuff but unsure what software should be used if the official diagnostic stuff doesn't detect it.
When you say official -was it a Peugeot trainer tech at a Peugeot dealer ?
Or someone using a Chinese clone ?
To confuse the tpms matter more....
I bought cheapo 15inch steelies off a man on Facebook.
I fitted them up Nokian wrd4 tires opting to forgo the sensors and see what the caractually did.
Fitted wheels to car today..... No longer feels like it's on marbles.
The tpms did sod all...
Everyone says it has sensors and will flash a fault after 20 minutes driving. I've done about an hour at various speeds and at least 20 at a constant speed. Nowt .
The system check does light it at start u so not a big issue for mot etc but did all partners/berlingo have tpms sensors or did some use the wheel speed via abs ?
Not an issue as such just irritating when you can't find any information .
IIRC the warning light on mine didn't show for a good hour or two after the switch to winters.
Any chance you can a thicko out and share dimensions of the wheels/rims please? Eejit got stuck for 5 hours in snow/ice has told me to sort my wheels out!
I just bought some 15 inch steel wheels for Peugeot partner from Facebook advert
Then I chuckled my reg into blackcircles and bought the narrowest
Think they are 195/75/r15
Will keep an eye .no doubt the light will come on and cause mad panic the minute I fly to work tomorrow night
"...just irritating when you can’t find any information."
IM (limited) E, the tyre revolution counters have a reset button in the cabin to cope with changes at the tyre(s), pressure sensors shouldn't need a button??
Might be a bit late now if you're flying, but I'd take one of the original tyres off and have a look for a sensor (I also get that you might be a bit remote from a tyre fitter) [/egg-sucking] 🙂
It was official software but not latest...thanks for detail on wheels, off to do some searching.
well it took a week but finally the light is on - so its not broken.
it beeped once , showed a TPMS sensor fault in the fault log on the dask and lit the TPMS light.
acknowledged the fault and it hasnt made a peep since - just the light has stayed on.
I reckon itll get an early MOT next year while the summer tires are on so i dont have to change them over for mot in december and that will resolve my issue.
next step to delve into my peugeot planet and fit the Cruise control 😀
Let me know how that goes please...you may get a request if successful!
