Faults - "air mixer flap" intermittent
Blocked dpf
Dpf getting sorted by a dpf specialist so that's ok.
He found these fault air mixer flap" intermittent, the part has a broken linkage so not shutting properly.
Is this part integral or can it be left for now??
IANAMechanic, but I do know that you must sort these types of problems before throwing money at the DPF. If the fault affects the DPF then it'll never work as intended, this extends to mundane stuff such as oil quality faults
He's ordered the part anyway so will fit it, just curious really as to what it is/did as no info
If anything like a mixer/throttle/intake restrictor/turbo/boost pipe isn't working properly, fueling will most likely be wrong as well.
So DPF will probably fill/clog quicker and whatever particular method of cleaning out the DPF is unlikely to work properly as it will not be fully calibrated for an out of range fueling/intake.
Going by the description, some PSA engines have what is essentially an intercooler bypass valve setup (minimises boost lag), which is what I'm guessing the problem is.
It's the kind of fault that would prevent DPF regens, so would need fixed first.
Once that's fixed, unless you have driven the vehicle several hundred miles with a warning light on, then the DPF will probably be fine after forced regen.
Swirl flaps. Was a persistent issue on 2.2 diesel blocks, luckily the 2.0 never had them, can't speak for any others.
Quick update on this:
Dpf has been stripped off, cleaned, refitted
The throttle body replaced
Dpf reset in Peugeot planet as new dpf
Still getting the error "risk of filter blocking" popping up 10 mins into a journey and then disappearing even though the additive tank has 1.6l in, the dpf is clean and the throttle body is new!!
Any ideas??
Which other error codes are present?
None
IANAM...has the garage suggested that you drive it and see if it settles down?
EDIT top up fluids add a tank of "super" diesel
Super diesel in
Everything as it should be
165 mile run - all fine
Shorter run (twice) the beep has happened and gone away after 20-30 seconds
Does it have a boost leak anywhere? Has the garage smoke tested the boost pipework?
What's the engine power like (similar to normal or down a bit?), Can you hear turbo whistle/hissing under full boost?
Boost seems fine, driving like the sports car it is 🤣

My Peugeot Partner does this. garage has looked at it, checked the fluid levels, forced regen and it all looks OK.
still does it though. normally after a couple of hours driving, but sometimes only after about 15 mins or so. it does go away though na dthere's no change in how the car behaves, so the garage just said keep on going, there's nothing they can see wrong with it.
The bleep is annoying, and If we ever sell it we'll need to get that sorted one way or other as I imagine explaining it to a potential buyer as 'all OK' may be a push. but it's been like that for a couple of years now.
@lovewookie this is where I'm at! The beep is up there with new born baby cry for stress inducing when knackered and with 3 kids in the van 😭😭😭😭
Any ideas??
The DPF issue isn't the problem, it's the symptom. My suggestion is plug in an OBD scanner and look at the DPF readings on a long drive. You should have readings that show the level of clogging, rate of PM generation etc.
I had a recent DPF issue with my car (Mazda 2.2 diesel). Basically getting regens every 30 miles. Loads of people saying clean the DPF, but the DPF wasn't clogged. I spent weeks tracking the DPF readings with my OBD app and what it showed was the regen being triggered not by the DPF getting filled up, but because it was filling too quickly. The rate of particulate matter (PM) generation was way too fast so the ECU was triggering a regen despite the DPF only being 20% full
After further investigation I found a random forum where people were discussing this same problem and the issue was cavitation of the injector nozzles. Basically the holes in the injectors where diesel is sprayed into the cylinder were becoming enlarged or distorted, resulting in poor combustion, which was creating PM much quicker than desired so the ECU was constantly doing regens and absolutely killing my MPG
I bought 4 new injectors, as even if it was only one causing the problem, eventually the rest would have the same issue, and swapped them out myself.
Result was regens went from 30 miles to 200 miles, and my fuel economy went from 40mpg to 55mpg.
No warning codes about the injectors, the only symptoms were DPF related, but the problem has nothing to do with the DPF itself
this is where I’m at! The beep is up there with new born baby cry for stress inducing when knackered and with 3 kids in the van 😭😭😭😭
yeah, just a bit!
it's been back and forth the garage for them to check. thankfully the mechanic is a tinkerer and loves a challenge, but he was saying that mine wasn't producing excess soot and the dpf wasn't actvating excessively. it was likely an electrical glitch and that they could go down that rabbit hole, but it's not impacting MPG or driving so leave it be.
That is just mine though, yours may well be different.
Mpg is still 39-40 (always has been, performance matches the van)
If you want to go down the DPF rabbit-hole, I can heartily recommend this guy on YT who seems to be getting all the jobs that other garages can't fix. https://www.youtube.com/@ORileysAutos
They can get a bit samey but he has mentioned that he points out the same issues over + over because they keep coming to him.
Depending on the manufacturer, the root cause for DPF issues he sees (amongst others I don't remember) are:
- failed glow-plugs/glow-plug relay
- blocked 5th-injector/atomiser (Ford TDCIs)
- ambient air-temp sensor failure
- sticking throttle-body (Range Rover)
- driving around a lot with low-fuel light on
- boost leaks
- stuck EGR valve
- a garage not properly plugging in sensors
- faulty VGT actuator or the wrong one put in by a garage
- oil-condition codes because of failed forced-regens
- cracked DPFs because of multiple forced-regens
- driving around when the service is overdue
- clogged air-filters
Quite a few of those prevent active-regens to happen and thus blocked DPFs.
<span style="color: #ff00ff;">driving around a lot with low-fuel light on</span>
That will be me!
<p>Is the fault with a sensor rather than the dpf? A lot of places recommend new pressure sensors when the dpf is cleaned or replaced </p>
@mert is that what the fault is?
Yes, anything that upsets intake air or fuel, even things that don't cause a fault to be flagged directly, can cause the DPF to fill quicker.
So EGR mix is a definite possibility if the flap doesn't close, leaky injectors (i worked on a task force for that particular issue about 10-12 years ago on a similar engine), sensors giving plausible but incorrect values, fuel pump being out of sync, boost pipe split, etc etc.
So this obd reader, can I buy a cheap one and leave it running whilst driving? Then look at the data? Or ???
Deal: Foseal Wired OBD2 Scanner, Plug and Play OBDII Code Reader, Car Diagnostic Tool for Vehicle Engine Fault Code https://amzn.eu/d/jexzwWI
<p style="text-align: left;">Just a generic cheap one from Amazon and I use an app called Car Scanner Pro on android. Plug the scanner in, open the app, onnect the phone to the scanner then youve got a ton of data available like this</p>

Have you got a link please
I think PSA are a bit fussy with OBD scanners - I know my older (2004) Partner will only work with Planet Peugeot
<p style="text-align: left;"> https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B07883V8KC?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title</p>
2*20 mile journeys today and not a peep!!
@rustynissanprairie what do you know about "autologic" software
My 04 /06 and 15 berlingos and partners + my 66 108 have all worked with generic obd for basic fault codes and resetting.
Peugeot planet and lexia were good at dialing down issues such as the garage throwing extra fuses in the fuse box to try and get horn to work. - but the generic code reader did throw a fault. P
Lexia told. Me exactly what it was.
I use. A u340 mostly. Then dig out the laptop if there's something I can't resolve
Sorry I don't know - I'm an enthusiastic DIY tinkerer and have Volvo's and a Peugeot as the original factory diagnostics are available (VIDA and Planet Peugeot)
the garage throwing extra fuses in the fuse box to try and get horn to work
I'm sure you sussed it but the horn uses the steering column bearing as an earth path - over time it dries out and the resistance changes so the horn doesn't work with the engine running. A bit of bare wire wrapped round the column and earthed works.
Its French🤷♂️
Cannot for the life of me remember what it was but it was something ridiculously simple was about 8 years ago now.
Bought the reader and got the app
This is what came up!!
Now what??

Reset/clear the fault DTC, drive it round for a bit and rescan to see if the DTC has been flagged again. It might have been the garage didn't clear it.
Cleared it
Drove it
No error as driving
Stopped at home - same error back plus p1671 cruise control, not even got cruise control lol!!
P1671 must be a different error - any ideas

according to

P1671 Peugeot Auto Trouble Code
P1671 Peugeot the main thing to check is to verify the operation of the VCT solenoid. You're looking for a sticking or stuck VCt solenoid valve caused by contamination. Refer to vehicle specific repair manual to perform component tests for the VCT unit.
The leak detection pump is part of the evaporative emissions system. This system tests the fuel system to make sure it is not leaking fuel vapors into the air. The system pulls a vacuum on the fuel system and holds it for a period of time.
P1xxx codes are manufacturer specific codes, so you need an accurate description for the actual vehicle.
(P0xxx and P2xxx are part of the EOBD standards, so should be common between manufacturers)
Wondering why you have an evap fault code, AFAIK you shouldn't really have any evap equipment in that car. It's a diesel...
Wondering why you have an evap fault code, AFAIK you shouldn’t really have any evap equipment in that car. It’s a diesel…
As per my previous post, it's a P1xxx code, which means it's application specific.
It does list Quantity of additive ECU for EDC15C2 (Bosch diesel ECU model number), which may apply to this vehicle.
The issue with these generic scanners, is the software is mostly created by people who don't actually understand the system. They simply code them, and grab a list of codes from whatever source they think is suitable, or simply not bother about accuracy as that would involve more time and cost (or more likely just copy somebody else's work).
Is it not referring to eolys
I'd guess it probably is something related to the fuel tank doping system, but I'd want to scan the vehicle with a decent scanner, and most likely look at some live data.
It's been a while since I've dealt with that system, but IIRC there were a few common faults I used to deal with. Main one I can remember is berlingos/partners used to randomly blow the fuse, but it's been that long since I've really worked on anything with it, I've forgotten the other faults!
It's booked into an indi peugeot specialist but I'm hamstrung until then (wk Friday) without a van

Yeah, i don't use or need a generic scanner so don't know much about them! My cars fairly comprehensively data logged, and if i need to interrogate anything in more detail i can just connect (almost) direct to the CAN, or whichever node needs to be shouted at... Or at least get a colleague to do it!

Yes, not spotted an engine model on there so far, but it sounds like a DV/DW derived unit, which had SCR/Eolsys about 10 years ago?
Not sure what help i can be 😀
As a manufacturer, we ditched the Peugeot engines (DV6 and DW12) about 10 years ago.
But the 2013 2.0l Diesel Teepee appears to be an SCR equipped vehicle to meet Euro 5 emissions. Has it been filled up recently/at all/ever?
In at the specialist, knackered pump in the eolys tank
Being replaced next week all being well, pending delivery from France!!
Hopefully closure!
Back and no errors!
Mechanically cleaned dpf
New throttle body
New eolys tank and 3l of additive!
That will be £1300 please sir!
Bloody Nora that's a lot.
As in cost or parts or both?
When the dpf issue came up I naively thought, get that cleaned and all is good £550
When he was doing that the throttle body issue was flagged up £150
Then when it went back together the computer (not pug planet) flagged up the eolys tank
Took it to the pug specialist - tank £300
Additive (3l) £140 I think
Labour
TBH, if the throttle body AND the eolys pump were both borked, cleaning the DPF was almost certainly needed.
Which they were 👍
And the fault is back!
FFS, you need to speak to that O'Riley's Autos guy that fixes cocked up DPF repairs.
@jonnouk linked his channel earlier in the thread
Christ, ditch the thing off to we buy any car and get something else 😂
What he said I think
