As I've posted last weekend, my old lab passed away and I'm after getting a drawing done of one of the last pictures I took of him.

It's a thank you to my mum who used to come and keep and eye on him and nip him to the vets when I was at work.

Anyone had one done and can recommend anyone ?

Thanks

Aron Gadd - the picture of our 2 basset hounds on his site was done from a photo.

Sorry to hear about your lab Simmy, we had to put our collie to sleep two years ago and we still miss him.

I can recommend Maddy's Pet Portraits

Disclaimer* Maddy is my sister in law, but she is really talented and I'd recommend her work regardless. We have bought her work before as a gift to one of our friends. She does have a waiting list at the moment though.

Look up "arty migglet" on Facebook. She's my wife's cousin and she sent us a painting of our dog Indy from a photo. It's superb!

Sorry to hear about your old lab.

My wife had these done for my 40th this year by Sarah Meakin.

They're brilliant, she's really captured their character:

Thanks for all the replies.

Not too bad mate, it's just he was such a big character he filled the room and it just feels so empty now. Even the vet said we have lost a great character.

They have put it down to peritonitis possibly caused by a underlying stomach tumour. That's without a PM, I'm not having him ripped apart.

Just keeping the other dogs active as they obviously know themselves what's happened.

Hey Bearback, really like your wife's cousins work. One of my dogs is on the way out and I think I'd like something for my ex to remember her by. Can you email me contact details? My mail in profile. Thanks.

Edit. Ignore that. Just realised you posted a link. Thanks again.

Good call on the post mortem, no point - unless they suspected that something in the environment caused it.

The worst, is when it's your only dog - it's nice to hear that you have some other dogs to keep active and keep your smiling!

I would like to recommend a customer I bumped into at work, but I think he's retired now, and I only have a nickname, old company mobile number, and an extremely hazy recollection of collecting the picture from his house 🙁

Did an amazing pencil drawing of my wife's first horse, unable to track him down to do one of the second. Didn't pay much at all but I'd cough up a significant sum for another one of his drawings (its coloured pencil, quite big at 24x18")
