I suspect that you have issues that need exploring not tools to handle your situation so I am not sure CBT is 100% appropriate But I don't know you well enough to be at all sure
As ever with any form of counseling the relationship between the counselor and you is the utterly key thing not the techniques used. It may just be the wrong person not the wrong technique or could be both
there is a big difference between talking to someone and working things out yourself.

There may be no "cure" but I am certain there are things that could help. Finding those things is the tricky part
Have you read Carl Rodgers work? I am a big fan of his techniques and he even had some success with long term schizophrenics who are very difficult to deal with
