Anyone here done any personal trainer/gym instructor type courses?

Any opinions on them, experience of them, employment potential knowledge etc very welcome.

I know it's not well paid by the way 🙂

cheers

Yes.

Back in 2006 I did a Gym Instructor and then Personal Trainer with Premier Training. Followed it up with Sports Massage. Did it as a bit of personal interest, having a (short) career break to do it.

I thought the courses were really good, and although I didn't go on to work in the fitness industry (I went back to being a software engineer) most of the others did. On minimum wage...

I've done lots of courses with premier training. Not the cheapest but by far the best. Worth every penny. I think you can allways tell the people who have been trained by premier.

Indeed so. The courses far exceed what's mandated in the NVQ level for the exams.

I did the YMCA's Gym Instructor/PT courses (just for kicks, couldn't actually afford to live on a PT's income 😉 ) Knowledgeable tutors, good facilities, bit pricey but well taught courses.

Depending in the courses, but I reckon premier are starting to send their guys on a course and then renaming it slightly and passing it off as theirs.
It might be cheaper/better for you to go straight to source if you know what I mean...
They've done this with their barefoot running one and also their newly advertised " strength and conditioning for PT's"
Nothing wrong with this but you could argue you'll be getting the information second hand....

Have you looked at qualifying as a Strength and Conditioning Coach? My current gym only employs SCCs.
