Recommend me a pepper mill. This is for a present, incidentally.

Peugeot still the one to go for?

No, they're made in Bradford by Shanice and Kev. I assume you've only seen the marketing material.

T and G No spindle to mess around with when filling, just a plug to pull out giving a nice big hole to fill with peppercorns. Great grind and ours is still going strong after 6 years.

Whichever crush grind mechanism is cheapest, normally a Peugeot one 😉

On topic, I've had a Cole & Mason for years, not sure how many but it's a looooong time, maybe 15 or more. and just had it returned after a free refurb under lifetime warranty as it had started to grind a bit rough.
Cracking value as I only paid a tenner from TK Maxx 🙂

The grinding mechanisms are mostly made in the same factory so just buy one that fits the look of your home.

If it's just pepper it's not as difficult - for Salt I went ceramic as I got fed up of salt eating grinders.

I went with a nice wood TG pair which weren't cheap, but should last me the next 20 years.

I got the gsi one for camping. Also useful for when you go to a restaurant and they ask if you want pepper, then stand there with the one ginormous grinder putting it on for you, but looking at you asking if they should stop yet till you tell them that's ok even tho it's nowhere near enough. It's like they're putting gold on or something.
