Anyone on here going to join the march in London on Saturday?
Yes. With family.
I'm in Sciliy unfortunately, but my family is going.
Maybe Farage?
He he he. The irony of it. They're organising an anti Brexit March in London. Quelle surprise.
Or am i wrong and they're also organising anti Brexit marches elsewhere?
( in which case humble apologies)
Yep, I'll be there rain or shine. I'll bring food and drink this time and have a wee before leaving the station to avoid the queues.
F***in' A, Bubba.
is it a anti HS2 march?
that would be worth the effort.

Well you do need a focal point, London be it....
Yup, and got mates from all over coming into London for it too, quite a few more than were up for the big one last year.
Bodes well.
After last night's performance by May I suspect it will be very busy.
Not really the marching type but think I will pop along. Was planning on getting into King’s Cross about 11 then taking a leisurely walk to Park Lane as I suspect tube and buses will be mobbed..

I know right?! Who would organise a march in the capital and march to the seat of governance...
FYI they are organising coaches from all over the country.
We will be hopping on the train from Birmingham. It’s not just Londoners that wish to remain.
The people need to be asked whether they still support Brexit and if so the deal presented as it represents the worst of both worlds for both those who wish to leave and those who wish to remain. The PM keeps insisting it is the will of the people, if she is so sure she should have no problem putting it to the ballot box and giving the people the final say.
No - but wish I was!
No, but if I was nearer I would (Shetland).
Yep, I’ll be there
Away on hols, otherwise we’d definitely be going - be great if the turnout is larger than Jez’s ‘stop the war’ demo.

Yep. That's the thing though. One of the key reasons that we have Brexit is that the hinterland of the,UK has been run down and deprived whilst a disproportionate amount of effort, money, jobs and opportunities are channelled down to SE England. It would never occur to Londoners that perhaps the rest of the UK isn't as happy with this approach. Hence why that imbecile Dave called the ref.
And here they are again repeating the same thing again. As I said hugely ironic.
That's irrelevant to the outcome. Brexit or no-Brexit if you live outside the SE, the government really don't care.
If I thought it would make any difference I would, but no one in government is listening, will of the people and all that
I'll be round the corner drinking some beers if that counts
Brexit was sold on a bunch of lies and falsehoods so now that what Brexit entails is a bit more known then the people should have the opportunity to vote again because we can now be sure that what's on offer changed from the virtual carrots that Farage / Boris et al were dangling in front of the public.
It may not make a difference but it is something that I can do, similar to signing the petition, will it make a difference, who knows, but it might.
No, I wont be as I work for the NHS and I'm still waiting for that bus full of money to turn up.
I'm glad i opened this thread - i was planning on cycling through Marble Arch tomorrow around noon - i'll go a different way now..
I hope the march is successful, but not convinced the current regime are listening..
Is this a stop Brexit march or let’s have a public referendum on whether to exit or not?
t’s a ‘give people the vote’ march.
Forgive my ignorance, I am after all only a builder from oop north but did we not give them that in the first place?
wrightyson, yes there was a vote about leaving the eu, people were persuaded to leave by lots of advertising about the benefits of doing so. Some of these benefits have been shown to be not entirely accurate.
All I want now is that we have a vote again because now we have a better understanding of what 'leaving the eu' actually means.
The best analogy I've heard so far is something similar to:
Do you want cake?
Yes - imagines a nice fruit cake
3 years later
Here is your cake: cattle cake, that's what you voted for that's what you'll get
Myself and 4 others coming from Warwickshire. Worrying times in the automotive industry. Last chance to do anything about it.
Forgive my ignorance, I am after all only a builder from oop north but did we not give them that in the first place?
Yes, and every current poll suggests they've changed their minds.
This may be a result of the deliberate misinformation which was (and continues) to be propagated. The illegal activity of the leave campaign. The forecasts which show in no scenario where our economy will be stronger. The extremely limited benefits. And the fact the government never had any strategy, and with a week to go are still unable to communicate any credible plan.
Presumably if there was to be another 'public vote' and the outcome was in favour of leave again then everyone would accept the decision.

What we really want is a specified leave definition putting on the ballot- not unicorns and whatever you can imagine.
Happy with that

News broadcasts about nothing every bloody day, multiple threads on your favourite forum based website, marches up & down the country, politicians coming and going, general outrage, a new word for cake being invented, being given multiple dates that you'll be able to have good scoff on your cake... still no cake, still no idea what flavour cake.
Ftfy
Forgive my ignorance, I am after all only a builder from oop north but did we not give them that in the first place?
Yeah, but the 70s was a while ago, so we've had a second and hopefully a third in a while. We should have them every couple of years as the old people die off and aspirations change. Or we could leave it to the professionals ...
Presumably if there was to be another ‘public vote’ and the outcome was in favour of leave again then everyone would accept the decision.
Personally, I don't think there should have been a vote the first time, and I don't think there should be another.
The chaos in parliament comes down to the belief that the disadvantages of the Brexit options presented to us far outweigh the advantages. The government which gave the public this choice held the same belief. I'd prefer to leave these decisions with professionals in the field, and not with a bunch of old blokes down the pub, or Mavis next door.
What we really want is a specified leave definition putting on the ballot- not unicorns and whatever you can imagine.
Happy with that
It was just a question designed to encourage wider debate. No need to get aggressive.
I'd like another vote to kick the local councillor type out. He's a true blue, but assured all of us in our little town that he would vehemently oppose any change to the local green belt which would allow more houses to be built before local brownfield sites were developed. Guess which way the stupid **** voted two weeks ago when the council had to make the decision. Brown envelopes all day long.
Or we could leave it to the professionals
I am not sure I have more faith in that option really. Dont get me wrong it should be the better option but since the job interview is based on charming the local party most of the time rather than professional competence the process has shown strong flaws.
Some friends of mine travelling down from Hexham (Northumberland)
Yep, I'm going with some others from my family
I'd be going but my wife is already taking our 11 year old daughter and a friend to a show (booked a while back) in the West End for her birthday. Train gets into Victoria at 12:30. I'll be glad when they're all back home to be honest.
It is flipping great to see the support for tomorrows march on STW. We will see you all tomorrow.
Peace & Love
On the coach from Devon.
While I would prefer to be able to attend a march in a local city, I would rather not be part of the disruption to local business they this would cause- I reckon London is better prepared for large protests. Plus if you want to speak truth to power you kind of need to bang on their door...
More than 1/2 people on the coach are on their first march.
Great turn out, more of a shuffle than a march.
It looked spectacular from the air.

Glad we went, maybe it'll make a difference
Great to see the bbc giving balance, by giving more words to the gammonball run than it has people participating, FFS...
Yeah, great to see the BBC’s famous ‘balance’ giving the same airtime to the nicotine-stained man-frog addressing 200 gammons as to the protest involving over a million people
Seems to me it has been balanced out by images of Anna Soubry getting enthused about her own presence and support for the 'people' despite signing every benefit cutting vote going.
Waitrose was much less busy yesterday.
and I thought all the Corbynista's shopped at Waitrose... My mistake.
I shop in Aldi and I went. Was I not meant to be allowed?
The scale of it was incredible, we got to Park Lane about 12.30 and were about 1/2 to 2/3 of the way back along Park Lane from the ‘start’ at Hyde Park Corner and there were so many people it 2hrs to get to the official start point and it was full right along Park Lane, from pavement to pavement. In all it took over 4hrs to get to Parliament.
I went to the Stop the War March in 2003 and this felt similar in numbers.
There are some fantastic pithy responses here and on twitter trying to belittle the fact that the biggest single gathering of people from various different groups and sides of politics all united to deliver a single message, it's almost as if people are threatened by that.
That aerial footage is great… shows the scale of the event in a way photos do not.
Thanks need to go to anyone who went out of their way to attend.
Oh, and of course there were people from very different political backgrounds there, from Green to Tory… at no point has the debate over our relationship with Europe been a purely Tory v Labour thing… never has been, never will be. It would be so much easier for voters if it was. Still, individual MPs, from Leaders to back benchers, need to get to work on this, time is running out… neither "my way or no way" or "all options are still on the table" will do, will it. MPs allowed a referendum to push them towards "a" Brexit, and I expect they will have to put "the" Brexit they come up with to the people in another referendum… whether you like referendums or not.
