There have been a few big winners round our way lately, so is that it for a while round here? A tenner a month doesn't sound bad but just wondered what the odds are?
they give less to charity that national lottery.

It's a lottery, the results are random, that's the point.
As for the odds:
www.postcodelottery.co.uk%2Fabout-us%2Ffaq%2Fwhat-are-the-odds-of-winning-peoples-postcode-lottery
PPL - 33% to good causes - https://www.postcodelottery.co.uk/about-us
NL - 24% to good causes - https://prizeprovision.com/how-much-lottery-money-goes-to-charity/
PPL - we have won on there last year a chunk (£1k) and a few monthly prizes. The process avoids some gambling addiction issues by being non-instantaneous and limited in spending.
I am also partly funded by PPL at work, so may be biased.
LOl, turn off the day time telly and go and do something else...
Why not. go for it. Or play the NL.
It's all just like some raffle they do at the church bazaar.
Giving to charity ?, well you can do that and not play a raffle cant you, which makes me wonder if those oh so loud vocal voices saying they only give a certain percentage actually give anything to charity normally and off their own back.
nickc telly ain't on just had a flyer delivered by the postie, like to have a sit down after work, getting up at 4 am needs must my age 🙄
A few years ago I had a look into it as it seemed like it must be a scam (partly due to their ostentatious offices in the centre of Edinburgh). Turned out that it's basically legit (or as legit as any other form of gambling).

Same as the normal lottery really. If you're having a bad day/week then fair enough buy a ticket for a future draw and hold onto it for a while to give you something potentially positive in the background.
If you've already got a happy and fulfilling life then why would you...

PPL – 33% to good causes
NL – 24% to good causes
24% or 33% of what? The Unity Lottery gives 50% to good causes.
Who?
Exactly. 50% of not much is not much. Percentages are only half the story.
The PPL boasts that they've raised £700 million for charity since 2005 - so on average about £45 million every year. The NL raises £34 million every week. So the NL definitely gives more to Charity.
Yeah but. No they don't. Not really.
I’m in it. Only £10 a month some of it goes to charity and I’ve had a few small wins. Also in play the Euromillions too.
The only reason I would enter is to win some money. If I wanted to give to charity I would do so directly.
A few £10ks would be very nice thanks, I just want the biggest chance of winning for my £1!
