Because they know you'll do it. Or that someone will do it. They're usually the ones moaning that the fair isnt as good as last year too.

They call that type of person "selfish". Others call them "thoughtless", personally, I say they're "ignorant tw##s"

Usual practice is to avoid at all costs unless you like feeling used.

thought this was a politics thread, it's normally people complaining that theirs are all being stolen (the right/liberty to be racist/sexist/everythingist) while trying to stop people getting on with their own lives

The same people that insist someone should be doing something about X Y Z but obviously that someone isn't them, in my exoerience this equates to about 80% of the population.

Can I include the people who moan about things like the Olympic legacy, and how let down they feel about the lack of increase in sport - yet when asked to sell a few draw tickets or give up a morning to bring the cricket ground to life after the winter never seem to be THAT bothered about it.

And god forbid you might ask them to actually contribute to running a kids team.

The Olympic Legacy is not a Euphemism for a friday evening / sunday morning creche for your little darlings, you ****s.

My favourite was the patent who complained to the headmaster that the dofe after school club was on the wrong day and I was being obstinate and uncooperative in refusing to change days.

Don't give in order to receive. If you expect something in return for your good deeds, you're doing them for the wrong reasons. So said my mate J.

Given that you will always have people who behave like this in the world (and it's still illegal to shoot them for the moment), I've found what works for me is:

1) Do things for others that you either want to do or at the least don't mind doing. Never do things that you feel you have to.

2) Expect nothing in return. A favour returned is a bonus not a right.

3) Without becoming a generally cold-hearted non-person, learn to accept what is your responsibility to fellow man and what is not.

For those who seem to end up doing everything, none of the above are as easy as they sound. The idea that you have to do it or it won't get done runs very deep in some people. As does non-deserved guilt.

🙂
