"Over the course of this afternoon, customers in these areas can expect to see reduced water pressure or loss of water. We will be supporting vulnerable customers with bottled water deliveries. We are also opening bottled water stations for our customers across this area. These will be shared shortly.

"We are very sorry for the disruption and inconvenience this will inevitably cause in the lead up to Christmas, and are working as hard as we can resume services by Sunday."

The affected postcodes include: SO14, SO16, SO17, SO18, SO19, SO21, SO22, SO30, SO31, SO42, SO43, SO45, SO50, SO51, SO53 & SO54.

Update 12:00 22 December

We’re really sorry for the ongoing disruption to water supply in parts of Hampshire. This is caused by a combination of factors.

The recent heavy rain has caused the amount of sediment in the water we take from rivers to be higher than normal which means our water treatment works are having to work harder to treat the water before it’s supplied to customers. This combined with the increased number of leaks we’ve experienced since the recent ‘freeze/thaw’ event has meant demand for water is outstripping the ability to keep taps running.

SO23 here, dodging Southern Waters' latest attempt to ruin Christmas for now.

Any pubs in Southampton put up a sign yet...
Due to the water shortage our beer is now being served at full strength.

How bad is it? I mean, does this mean the whole of SO30 is affected? And they have no running water??

I thought our cold water pressure was lower than normal yesterday... But at least thankfully we still have running water, absolute nightmare timing for those with no running water and even more of an issue for those without transport to get to the very limited number of water bottle banks!

https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/23208147.bottled-water-sites-may-close-restock-warns-southern-water/ says there's a bottle point at Places Leisure in Eastleigh.

shows one at Ageas Bowl cricket ground too.

Maybe I should go and fill up some of those empty 2l coke bottles with tap water, just in case...

From the Echo - Massive over reaction by local resident?

THOUSANDS of people have been left without water just days before Christmas.

Around 24,000 households and businesses have been left with no water or very low water pressure due to issues with Southern Water. Residents have been unable to flush toilets, wash dishes, or get drinking water in their own homes. Bottled water stations have been set up in Winchester and Eastleigh for those with no supplies.

James White who lives in the Bassett area of the city has described the shortage as "inconvenient".

Well I guess inconvenient is one way to describe it. Toilets still flushing in SO16 5.. up near the general hospital.

Here in the southern end of the spiral galaxy that is Greater Manchester we had a couple of dozen bottles of council pop delivered. No explanation, no warning of loss of mains etc. That was about 2 months ago. I'm betting on the water going off on Christmas day - just for a laugh.

We still have water. What a shit show, if you have family down for xmas and no running water.....

I've seen they have set up 3 sites to pick up water, I'm told there are big queues so get to them early. Going to pick up some bottled water on the supermarket run. Of those winc park and ride likely is the quickest for us to get to, probably about the same as flemming park.

SSE should really be delivering water to all impacted there are plenty of Elderly/those that can't drive or need to be at work and cant be in a queue for water a 20min drive away.

Least it is tipping it down. I have full water butts and a few more buckets filling up to flush the toilets if need be!

Just heard from a mate who lives just off Winchester Rd near the Sports Centre and has been without water since Thursday evening.
