<em style="font-size: 0.8rem;">A new museum at Perth City Hall will be called Perth Museum after 60% of people in a public consultation picked "the obvious choice."
Perth Museum beat other suggestions including The Sparkling Museum of Perth and the Victoria Drummond Museum.</p>
A spokesperson for the museum said the name had been a clear favourite and "encapsulates the stories and history of the building."What happened to the days of Museum McMuseum-face suggestions and the like? Perth Museum: the Ronseal of museums.

The VD Museum would have been a good call.
At least it's got a clearly different name than the existing Perth Museum and Art Gallery.
For those of you that don't know (I'm guessing 99.9% of folk on here). The City Hall saga has been ongoing for 20 years since the concert hall was built.
It really should have been demolished to clear the space for a larger open space. It's a bloody hideous building, but it's listed and so it couldn't just be flattened.
Should probably have a name which better reflects it's purpose, which is to house the Stone of Destiny/Scone.

I’ve got a suspicion us in Falkirk here could rival that saga if things continue as they have so far with our Council HQ / town hall / arts centre farce.
Just what Perth needs, another museum, every time I head back it seems just a little more run down, the council and local councillors were legendary for stopping anything remotely decent happening, then when it was too lol are letting every crap venture through.
Another ****ing museum FFS would’ve been a great name.
