Hello,

Does anybody know if the trails at Penmacho are open? I've not been that way since 2017, and will be near this weekend. Looking for a Sunday ride.

Thanks,

Should be - rode there in October. When they say it's wet, they aren't kidding. The bike needed bearings re-greasing after being completely submerged in the worlds biggest puddle - never seen anything like it. We had fun though.

Marin was running nice at the weekend if you're that way... as was Pont Scethin if you like that (a bit further away)....

I rode there last week and some parts of the purple loop were closed.

Next time I don't think I will bother with the purple loop at all, just do the red and move onto something else nearby.

When it rains, you're essentially riding the whole loop through a stream.

A lap of Penmachno in January as the melting snow was running down the trails was without doubt the wettest and coldest I've ever been on a bike. It took me about three days for my feet to thaw out

Should be great at the moment, mind. Make the most of it

I learnt from the locals that you do penmachno in your waterproof footwear come rain or shine

Rode the red last weekend,it’s a bit damp in places but not too bad.p.s. I always avoid the permanently wet section from the top of the fireroad 😜
