Rode penmachno today. It was the wettest I've ever ridden it despite it not raining.
Took the cheater bike and thought the motor was going to die from water ingress.

Loop 2 is broken, North shore sections/bridges are rotten and fallen apart and also very slippy!

I slipped off and landed in heather. Not hurt. Thought I was all alone as it's in the arse end of nowhere until a guy came plodding down the trail. He'd hurt himself and done something to his hamstring. He was going to walk down to the village, I sign posted him with my Garmin.

I wished him well, carried on round loop 2 and 1 and got to my car to find his car still there a good hour later.

I rode up the road then came back and packed up then drove up the road looking for him etc.

If you are here penmachno loop 2 guy, are you alive?

Yeah it's a long post. Sorry.

Penmachno's drainage is still defying all the normal rules of hydrodynamics then?

I always find it a bit ironic that the trail is built of huge slate blocks, slate being the stuff used to keep houses dry.

Same principle at 'machno, they keep the ground underneath dry. And you get to ride in the gutter.

The heather was bouncy. I could have laid on top for ages as I was spent.

I'm taking Sam pilgrims 36" wheel bike next time and staying dry.

Went for the first time a month ago, needs renaming ‘the sheep dips’. Had a excellent time & will be back, with waders.

Loop 2 is broken, North shore sections/bridges are rotten and fallen apart and also very slippy!

We rode it & just walked the really rotten bits, but those slippery rocks (last section seemed the same) were sketchy as hell, but a really enjoyable ride overall.

Maybe he drowned on the trail?

Subsumed by the bog more like. It always makes me think of what it must be like to ride some of the aqueduct trails with Mark at Ciclo, but have myself continually fall in.
