For various reasons I've ended up with a Pendle bike rack looking like https://pbr.co.uk/products/hang-on-towbar-rack I want to mount 2 bikes, but it doesn't come with specific "slots" or clips for each bike (as some racks do).
Anyone got any clever ideas for something I could bodge up to hold bike 2 in-place and stop it sliding up against bike 1 (bike 1 is fine because the bars have a short vertical bump).
i.e. Bike 1 goes on, and I can strap that down, when bike 2 goes on and I strap it down I'm just pulling it into bike 1.
TIA

I used to have one of those racks and just used pipe lagging at contact points. Which mostly fell off / got lost.
You can bodge a spacer with pipe lagging and some duct tape.
Also tie them to the rack separately so you don't pull them together
We’ve had one like this for a few years. The rubber coating on the frame is good, but as you seem to have identified, rubbing between the bikes can be a problem. What I tend to do is use the straps that came with the rack - get the first bike on nice and tight. Worth checking the orientation of pedals and bars vs car as they can sit quite close and damage your car. I then strap bike 2 on using separate straps, but using them so as to pull the 2 bikes together. Where there is contact I just tie old inner tube in place. Provided the straps are nice and tight this works well and will prevent any damage at all. The only time I’ve had a problem is if one of the straps has worked slightly loose allowing movement between the bikes. A couple of bungees can also be good as a back up to prevent this.
Overall can be a bit faffy, especially if you are fussy about your bikes like me, but once set up it works well.
Thanks for the replies. If I'm honest the bikes aren't super important (they are cheap gravel-ish bikes, not top-end CF ones) but I'd like the process to be simple and reproducible.
Ideal would be some sort of simple clip-in jobby, but the rack is fitted to a T2 camper (Brazilian) and has to avoid the rear-mounted spare.
