Been on BR and a bit of narrative around Jezzer and Cptn Slow riding bikes around this ere Lonjon, its got CHris Boardman in it too..
Don't thank me all at once. 😉
Yey, another thread with people complaining about something they didn't have to watch and makes its producer a lot of cash.
Should just catch it in time with the flight home too.
Who's complained?
I haven't even seen the show and I'm indignant with rage already!
😉
Who's complained?
Your thinking about it. Don't pretend that you aren't. 👿
Me?
I'm positively frasmotic with anticipation.
Look, think of it like a Pantomime.
We all know our roles by now.
Let's just make sure we all get our lines right on Sunday.
I am so dissapointed in this series, I watched Sunday's ep on playback and reckon I skipped through 2/3 of it.
well i thought it was terrible!
contrived and bigoted
is excited.
I might build a cage around my TV tomorrow so it will survive my rage.
I may be appalled an unable to make it through the day!
Either:
Clarkson will have a revelation, realize that bikes are the future for all, and promote restrictions for motorized vehicle within cities forever more.
or
They will act like nobs, cck about a bit, and make anyone who cycles look a bit silly.
Hmmmm
its got CHris Boardman in it too..
I might be tempted to watch then, but suspect:
They will act like nobs, cck about a bit, and make anyone who cycles look a bit silly.
which will encourage the nobs who drive cars and think cyclists shouldn't be on the road - whatever the apologists might suggest.
Look, think of it like a Pantomime.

Can I be the baddie's henchman number two?
I suspect Chris will give as good as he gets, I just can't wait to see all the paraphernalia/getup they will coat themselves in, you know just to exaggerate the "hippy cyclist who knits his own shoes" look..
Should be hilarious or hideous, both in equal measure I suspect, but I will watch it 😆
Is this a move by the BBC to make sure everyone hates him?
Who's complained?
AHEM!!!
Like a moth to a flame I will be watching
Script:
J: ooh my bottom hurts
May: Hur hur he said bottom
H: Get a move on
J: There's a great big bus in the way
May: Hur hur he said bus
H: my gran can go quicker than this
J: WHERE is the cycle lane
M: hur hur he said.. um
J: My bottom hurts, I'm getting back in my car
M; Helmet! thats it: helmet hur hur
Left the labels on, that's not humorous about cyclists, just shows his mind is going, bloody idiot 👿
I work in the road safety arena and will be interested to see how this pans out. Its bound to be jokey, but hoping it has a positive stance. I have faith.

Are you mad? that's top comedy, that is.
Top comedy on cebbies maybe, thought the bit he did on the coach built Alfa last week was good, sometimes he just tries too hard me thinks
There's this brilliant bloke on Twitter complaining in jezzas feed that last week's episode was contrived, scripted nonsense.
HAVE YOU NOT SEEN THE PREVIOUS 87 EPISODES+???
Can't see what's people's beef with Top a Gear to be honest. Yes it's scripted, childish, puerile and pure entertainment as much as much as a car show but it's been said a million times before that if you don't like it don't watch. I generally like the show, although they could do with ditching the 'star in a car' section. Still far better than the trashy mindless TV that is Celebrity this or that, X Factor etc, Jungle get me out of here, Dancing on Ice etc etc.
Also as a result of watching Top Gear when growing up my nephew took a strong interest in cars and car design. He's currently doing A-Levels and applying to University to become an Automotive Design Engineer. Far better than all those kids with distorted expectations wanting to be singers or celebrities after watching all this Celebrity driven bullsh*t.
The last three words of your post sum up TG rather nicely.
😀

Did you miss the bit about ditching the 'Star in a car' bit?
Ditch the star in the car? I thought it would be fun to put Chris Boardman in it. Be even better if he got top of the board.
Clarkson is clearly not a cyclist. Saddle too low, and foot position all wrong.
May on the other hand is covering the brakes nicely on the right as he is a motorbicylist, however his left hand is obviously suffering from seventies clutch fever where you need both hands to wind the d**mn thing in.
Hammond I cant comment on, because as usual he is hidden behind the two fat blokes.
None appear to be giving any indications to other road users of intended position, and have poor road awareness due to no visible "lifesavers" in evidence.
Clarkson also forgot to remove the tags which could cause a distraction and danger of death (hopefully).
All in all, a very poor showing, I would fail the lot of them during a bikeability test for 12 year olds

This post is almost as feeble minded as the program itself.
Clarkson also forgot to remove the tags which could cause a distraction and danger of death (hopefully).
He does this every single time he buys any 'challenge' specific clothing. It's a joke on the program.
It's a "joke" on the program.
FTFY
I like miss argyll socks 😉 and the dig at piers.
So cycling by Clarkson later....
She looks like she could do you some damage.
Has the bloke behind may had a lobotomy?
That made me chuckle
Gurning chap needs the Jamie treatment
Hahaha Lance poster 😀
god almighty. Making fun of people dying. really ****ing classy
Defo not quite right!
Act your age, get a car!
Oh dear. I'm only watching this so I can have some background tomorrow. I absolutely despair.
SOH required tonight!
At least Boardman can take a joke! Love the price tags flapping around.
its filmed on a sunday for the London bit, to quiet !
Did you apply toothpaste as a yoof? Not heard that before.
Bloody glad I don't ride in London though
OK the start of the article wasn't very funny but it's highlighting some very good points at the moment.
I love riding in London and much as they ham everything else up, bus drivers are generally some of the better drivers on London Street s. And of course good riding keeps you out of conflict with them as with any other road users
They are spot on about bus drivers though. There are some right misanthropists behind the wheel in those bloody great things
London riding is fine, a sight safer than negotiating all the potholes around here.
Hmmm, I think I'd rather watch a compilation of "Star In A Reasonably Priced Car", even the one with Geri Haliwell.
Yes - I can see that there were some 'small issues' with their lane positioning. It's just not funny though - they've got the opportuntity to get a message across to x million drivers in the UK and they're just pissing about. I *know* that's the TG way, but still...
proper lol at the 'read and green, learn the difference'!
Righteousness lol!
personally, given the recent spate of deaths on London's road, this is ill thought out, in bad taste, and essentially, not very funny.
surprised Boardman put his name to it to be honest.
what do people expect, every other "Ad" they done in the past, they taken the piss and come up with stupid ideas etc.
Why would any one think it be any different?
I do think is has been some real funny moments,
Armstrong poster and I real think the RED and Green one was very good and I think they should air it!

I was worried it wouldn't be a pi$$ take.
As warton says. Even my Mrs thinks its in bad taste.
I really enjoyed it, it was funny, I laughed a lot, and it all led up beautifully to a serious point being made about how to treat cyclists.
.that wasn't made?
EDIT: Just saying that it would have had a lot of the viewers on board, and it's a shame that an opportunity missed really.
I ride in London every day of the working week. I found it funny. People really need to take Topgear for what it is - light entertainment with a lot of pisstaking and some bits about cars.
It was never going to be serious and I really don't understand why people are getting their knickers tied up in knots about it
MTB Rob - Member
what do people expect
I [s]expected[/s] hoped they might have taken the opportunity to talk to the x million car drivers (some of whom are doubtless cyclists too) that watch it and help things along a little. Not too much to ask?
It could probably have been done with a little wit but we're ultimately talking about dead people here - sons, daughters, dads, mates - we're not pissing about.
Bloke riding by in flames made me laugh.
I think JC stopped liked driving in his 30's. I was a big fan of his column in the early 90's.
If I ever meet him I will slap him like a village idiot.
I love cars. I also want my son to cycle, drive and ride motorbikes but I truly think he and the two others are self-serving pricks.
It was really funny the whole show is pisstaking and light hearted entertainment
proper lol at the 'read and green, learn the difference'!
again LOL.
well filmed as per usual, funny, and well edited, and at leat it got cycling onto mainstream tv that will be shown round the world
I struggled to find it funny, I wonder how many of the drivers that comprimise my safety each week will feel their attitudes vindicated?
Too many cycist deaths for this to be funny IMO - no shame for me in not "having a prespective" if that's what it gets called.
Maybe there were two versions of the show aired and I got the one that wasn't amusing.
I like miss argyll socks
Nice. Shame the cycling bit was such a mess.
So by the same logic, they should never do anything funny about cars, 'cos people are killed in those way too often as well?
It's just supposed to be a bit of fun
12
In what way was it fun?
So by the same logic, they should never do anything funny about cars, 'cos people are killed in those way too often as well?
showing a squashed bike, in the gutter, to get a cheap laugh in a feature about cycling in london is hardly funny.
Burma special looks good to me!
Also liked the red / green and thought their final 'serious' bike film was a reasonable one - and Boardman et al must have known what was coming their way.
Want that Porsche and that Mclaren
Before this gets WAY out of control (and I've witnessed a very good friend go over the bonnet of a ford sierra many years ago) - it was funny, right up until the point they missed making any serious point.
It strikes me more than anything, than a great, humorous build up to make a great point, wasn't made, and therefore a bit of shitty piece of VT and a massively wasted opportunity.
Which points in the last film did you consider reasonable Markie?
To me Clarkson is the driver vs. cyclist version of "now I'm not racist but..."
That's why it wasnt funny.
The Porsche film is what Top Gear does best. The whole Last Of The Summer Wine routine is getting a bit tired.
That lots of people cycle, that this means there aren't those same lots of people in cars, that this reduces congestion, that cyclist need space.
