I've just moved to Peebles, I'm loving it so far although the plumbing in our new house is woeful in all sorts of ways.

Does anyone know a good plumber in the area please? I've got a leak from the boiler pipework and a washing machine that keeps flashing the low pressure warning and won't finish any cycles, grrr.

An electrician would be a good number to have on file too if anyone can recommend one of those as well.

While I'm venting I can't get the conservatory door to unlock either, although that is a third order problem for now...

I don't actually. Mine have all come from further afield.

The Peebles Facebook page and check a trade are normally pretty decent though.

I also have a spanner you are welcome to borrow if it's just a nip up required...

Welcome by the way!

Cheers Joshvegas 🙂

I'll have a trawl on Facebook.

I have unpacked my spanners (and my Fernox-LSX leak sealing goo) but neither of those have sorted it, it's a plastic-copper interface and I think something has degraded. Slightly beyond me - and the low water pressure issue definitely is!

Loving Peebles though. At some point I'll ask about more fun things like restaurants 🙂

I'm in Peebles and can highly recommend Pete (Borders Handyman). He and his crew seem to do every trade from little jobs like re-hanging doors to full bathrooms (like he did for us). Really nice guy, did good work, easy to deal with, and absolutely made right something that went wrong without any hesitation.

I've also used Aaron Somerville for electrical jobs, and G&B Electrical put power, fuse box, lighting and sockets into my shed. Can recommend both.

Agreed, Peebles is great! Though I have to admit, Innerleithen has Loulabelle's and Number One cafes which are (IMO) better than most in Peebles. Coffee in the Milkman is good. Bspoke bikes are very friendly.

Super helpful, thanks @vww. I'll bookmark those names.

Though, I think once my Fernox-LSX dried the leak seems to have stopped overnight, so I'm off the hook for now 🙂 .

I have sampled the Milkman already, I'll give those Innerleithen ones a try soon!

Foodwise...

Osso and Coleman's cover the fancy stuff.

Takeaways it's more a case of take your pick of the big four cuisines and there is two of each.

Milkman is as good as number 1 for coffee but lacks the eats. The milkman edges the pastry choice though.

Fat batard is absolutely worth the queue for cinnamon buns on a Saturday morning.

Spoons is a hole. The bridge is decent for a pint especially in the summer on the terrace. Coltmans is the only place in town for proper cocktails.

@finbar
Sorry dude only just seen this as I'm trying to step away from here for a bit.
Haven't really got any recommendations for tradies as we haven't used any yet and I do a lot of stuff myself.

I can however recommend Brian Jones for boiler servicing. Not sure what his plumbing skills are like as we've only used him to service the combi.

If your looking for someone to show you round some of the trails that's far more up my street than recommending other stuff to you.
I ride most days so just PM me if you're looking for someone to show you round.

Forgot to mention James Davidson for boiler/heating work. Super helpful when replacing our leaking hot water tank.

Agree with The Milkman and Louabelles as the go to coffee shops in the Valley. Also Caberston Cafe at Walkerburn is worth a trip to.

Best curry house is Saffron at Inners. Tempest Brewery Tap Room for a pint.
