Hp pro desktop i5 win7/8 desktop pc maxes out at 16gb ram

Seems like its had an easy life, and want something for a media server (well storage really)
What would/can you do to it to make it better, what will the motherboard accept?

SSD and an upgrade to Windows10

As above..
Put an ssd drive in it, upgrade the ram from 4gb to 8gb.
That would pretty much sort it out.

For a media server, Linux may be better and quicker. Depends on what you want to do.
