Having read about the latest No Man's Sky I'm hankering after it, but might have to wait til we get a PS4, whenever that will be.

What else is good for PC that's inexpensive, interesting, not a FPS gore fest? What're you enjoying?

Stardew Valley - farming RPG, similar to harvest moon if you ever played that.

Rocket League - football but with flying cars

Hearthstone - card game

AER - exploration/platforming game where you can transform into a bird.

That's what I've been playing recently.

Path of Exile (Free to play ARPG, but can be worth buying a few extra stash tabs)

Minecraft (Heavily modded, Feed the Beast Infinity Evolved pack)

I've been playing a serious amount of Dark Souls 3 (rpg, very satisfying tactical combat) recently. Absolutely fantastic atmosphere and gameplay but it is immensely challenging.

Life is Strange is the best thing I've played in years.

I thought you had a PS4?

Aah, that explains it.

You can get Life Is Strange for the PS3 too IIRC...

Give Warframe a spin, FPSRPG type thing but not a gorefest by any stretch. Free to play as well so nothing lost by trying it out. There is a muli-player PvP mode but mostly it's PvE either solo or co-op.

BattleTech is occupying far too much of my limited brain space at the moment. Big stompy robots blowing each other to bits, what could be better

And No Man’s Sky is available on PC

Kerbal Space Program has to be worth a look - I think there's a demo you could try

Life Is Strange is gorgeous. I think it's a fairly terrible game but that doesn't stop it from being a really superb semi-interactive high school soap opera.

I just put a fair amount of time into Darkest Dungeon, I think I've worn it out now but it was pretty cool. Just gone back, again, to Total War: Warhammer 2.

I think that does it a disservice TBH. It's much more than that.

These are old and cheap (or free) but I've been playing Defence Grid 2 and Fallout Shelter.

Yes, but I'm a married man and I want to stay that way so I cannot spend hours alone in my room playing immersive PC games. If I play them in the living room it's a bit more social.

How long have you got? Couple of hours here and there, or time to grind away collecting and crafting at stuff. I tend to dip in and out of gaming these days, so grinders like Elite Dangerous, Assassins Creed or Fallout don't appeal.

Games that have impressed me in recent years are Inside and Limbo, a couple of brilliant side-scrollers which don't last long but are highly enjoyable and very atmospheric.

Story driven stuff - I loved Doom (but that REALLY doesn't fit your brief), but also the Dishonored series, which can also involve a lot of slaying, but the fun started for me when I tried to beat the game stealthily without killing anyone...

(I notice that it's on offer on Steam just now, too).

If you just want a quick fix of addictive fun, just google Slither...

Take a look at Rock Paper Shotgun reviews. PC is the best platform for non shooty stuff and they review pretty much everything.

Tonnes of great games for under £15.

Rocket league, with a slight twist of my alias here to more aptly fit my "baby cow" topper and puns. 😉

The Forest is a fav of mine. But I'm too scared to play it in VR. It's scary enough in pancake mode.

Crafting/survival game with a huge amount of support from the developers. Really polished game that puts a lot of AAA games to shame.

If you're into space games there is a great super dooper game called 'Everspace' that came out a year or so back. It's only £25 at full price but regularly goes on sale. It's a rogue like space shooter with really slick combat and visuals. Little exploration or story, though. Fun game.

I am heavily drawn to games like Fallout (spent faaaaar too much time playing Fallout 3, and New Vegas in the past), but really do not have the time to justify investing in a PS4 or PC just so that I can play Fallout 4 and the Vault 76 version out soon. Or No Mans Sky, which I also like the look of.

Dammit, so many nice games that need a good PC...

Currently playing through the Metro redux series. Stunning graphics and really enjoying it.

Doom was also very good.

Got Yakuza 0 to start also.

Witcher 3 also good.
