I've had my paypal going for about one year now, and transactions have been fine.

Last week i setup a transfer from my bank account in the usual way, from my usual account. There is money available in the account. Today i got an email saying something like (can't paste for some reason):

"Transfer returned as bank disputing Direct Debit Instruction. Contact the relevant bank as this is an issue between the account holder and their bank. This bank account will be deleted from your PayPal account".

PayPal have deleted that bank account.

Spoke to my bank, they know nothing about it.

Any ideas on what I can do? I could re-add this bank account to my PayPal account, but not sure if that will work. Or even if I will be able to then transfer funds after waiting another 7 days.

Any thoughts?

Have you spoken to Paypal? Did the bank know about the transfer? I would definitely talk to Paypal to find out why?

Possible fraud attempt. Talk to paypal.

I've had exactly the same email this avo. I just ignored it, possibly fraud, but either way doesn't matter as it was ebay charges and if they want it badly enough I'm sure they'll be in touch....

I had two of those emails. Logged in to PayPal (by typing in the address rather than clicking on a link) and all my details were unchanged and the account was still there. No idea what was going on but haven't had any problems since.

I had one today as well. Phoned paypal and they helped me set up another direct debit instruction. My bank had in fact cancelled the direct debit, so thats why mine came through.
Have had three people with their transactions reversed because of it today. And they all want their money!
I think paypal are getting too big for their boots and someone smarter than I should start up an opposing secure payment scheme.
