Question then,
There's a set of DH forks for the lads bike on Pinkbike, but we're struggling to arrange meet up... So option is to pay be PPal using non-family type.
But how does the security side of things work there.. ? If i pay using normal fees etc, then bloke doesn't send them, i go to paypal and say "i didn't get what i paid for.." he then says "don't know what you're talking about" and then ??
Seller has to provide valid proof of delivery, else you get your money back.
Hmmmm seems pretty secure then, i've only even bought big item stuff through Ebay in this context.
If you don't receive the item you can contact PP for a refund. They'll then go to the seller and ask if he's got proof of delivery. If he has i.e. has sent you some bricks or a broken fork or whatever then you need to instead apply for a refund on the basis of the item not being as described. I believe (although never been in that situation personally!) they usually side with the seller as long as you've jumped through all the hoops (make sure it's posted to your registered address!) If you fund the purchase via CC rather than PP balance (and it's over £100) you also have the option of going through S75 via the CC company should seller try to rip you off!
The part about using a credit card above isn’t entirely true. You haven’t bought something with your credit card, you’ve paid PayPal. As far as the credit card is concerned they’ve funded PayPal, PayPal have funded the seller. It offers no more protection than any other way of funding PayPal.
Well i've bought them using the non-friends option, the guy seems straight forward and honest and i've got his address, name, phone etc... so we'll see what comes..
Thanks for the wisdom.
that’s not what PP say in their T&Cs 🤷♂️The part about using a credit card above isn’t entirely true. You haven’t bought something with your credit card, you’ve paid PayPal.
Long ago PP wouldn't play ball as the seller, admittedly a company that looked British but posted from China, said, "send it back first " to a duff item. A possibly fake. I refused, PP said tough, so I told the Cc company who refunded me in 24 hours. No idea if PP got their money. Don't care.
For stuff like that I've used PP invoicing option. Gives the full breakdown of costs, send it to them, they pay via the invoice, then update with tracking.
