You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
It's been a while since I paid for anything used over the internet (outside of eBay). I'm trying to buy a guitar that's a long way away but the same would apply for a bike purchase I suppose. I found it via a forum, the seller has a bit of history on there, he looks superficially legit and has done a video walkaround so I'm sure the thing exists!
So if I Paypal* him the money - what could go wrong?
I suppose I'm imagining a scam where the seller sends an empty box or similar. Will Paypal be supportive? Are there any other things I should be concerned about.
*Full Paypal, not Gift / 'Friends and Family'
Full PayPal and you are reasonably covered but it's not 100%. There is still a risk they don't find in your favour but they usually do, even as a courtesy to long standing users.
Despite the horror stories most sellers are actually ok and it sounds like you've done reasonable due diligence. Forum history is a big one to check.
Full PayPal and I'd pay the fees if the seller won't. It's worth it just for the extra leverage in case it goes wrong.
I'm a long time user of Paypal but after a recent loss of £200 for an Ebay car deposit that should have gone in my favour I wouldn't bother.
Tell us where it is and where you live and we'll organise an STW guitar relay event.
