Am I missing something obvious here?
Looking on my Paypal account it says on the summary page
Balance available £X
But on the Activity page it says balance £Y
Y being a bit more than X
How does that work then?

Or it's a pending payment.

Paypal has started doing all its accounting in roman numerals
PayPal are getting bloody worse for withholding money, I'm really fed up with them, but there doesnt appear to be much of an option for classifieds, eBay etc. Ended up phoning them last time, and the guy in customer services didn't know why my money was pending.
Worse than useless.
Just been scammed myself £35 in the red because the scrote who can't afford to buy Fifa 17, decided he would have it for free off me.
I know Paypal will just refund him based on past experience.
Final straw for me, not using it again.
I fight paypal and ebay claims tooth and nail, literally the only times I've lost is when I've made some error- not following their process right, having a weak description, or not having the evidence I need (I think 3 succesful dodgy claims out of over 1000 sales). They make it intentionally difficult I'm sure, they want sellers to give up or fail to jump through one of the hoops.
Are you sure it's not just a normal pending transaction- echeque, pay after delivery or similar?
If you sell something, and don't mark it as dispatched on eBay they hold the money too.
