I have just received a letter from Paypal regarding an inactivity service fee for £9?

Has anyone else had one of these?

Not sure if its a scam or not??

Not a scam was in the news. They are wanting inactive accounts closed. I got one. Thought it said if no response the account would be closed? In my case it was an AC connected to an old email address.

Apparently they will only take the fee if it's in the PayPal account, they won't take it from the linked account.

Ok, so if the paypal account has not been used for many years and it has no funds they will not use the linked bank account to take the fee, correct?

TDLR form the Which link above:

The inactivity fee will only apply to customers with money in their PayPal digital wallets, and this is where the fee will be taken from. PayPal will not take money from a linked bank account. The first fee will be charged on 16 December 2020. Those with balances over £12 will be charged the whole fee. So if you have £20 in your wallet, you’ll owe £12. If your balance is under £12, its entire value will be deducted. Say you have £6 in your account, you’ll be charged £6.

That suggests the OP has £9 in their PayPal account then.
