Never had PAYG before so no idea about them. My inlaws are visiting us, and they would like a phone. We have unlocked phones, so the best thing would seem to be for us to buy a normal UK PAYG SIM for a tenner with a load of minutes, then let it expire when they leave.
Are they really free of obligation? Can we really pay just the tenner and then forget about it?
Three - end of unless there's no signal for Three in your area.

Yes
Three on payg is ridiculous. 3p a minute, 2p a text 1p a MB and the credit never runs out
I saw 1Gb data, 500 minutes and 250 texts for a tenner advertised today. Problem is I can't remember where! 🙂
Just got a 3 payg sim £15 all you can eat in UK and 25gb for roaming for alps trip.
EE were wanting £25 for 500mb 😕
When my giffgaff credit runs out, I'm off to three on that 123 deal.
I stopped my contract and went onto Giffgaff.
They do the usual PAYG rates 10p/min 6p text, but the better thing is you can buy goodybags which give you a months worth of free stuff.
eg. £10 buys you 500 UK minutes, Unlimited UK texts, 1 GB 3G Internet
there are smaller and larger bags depending on what you want.
After the end of the month, thats it. you don't need to buy another goodybag if you don't want. it just expires and defaults to a standard PAYG - use your credit to pay.
only once any of that runs out do you have to use your PAYG credit.
so for you, you coudl load it up with a goodybag for the month and can use it to their hearts content and very unlikely you'd go over.
giffgaff also run on O2 network so have the same coverage as them
