Hi,

GF's birthday next weekend and im looking to get her a new phone. She currently has a 4 year old blackberry which is dire.

Having dropped some hints over the last few months the phone NEEDS to be white thus limited my options.

She does use facebook and all that so im thinking an iphone 4 8gb. Will be more perfect for her i reckon, nice and simple to use, OS is easy and the phone is still supported by apple.

Cheapest i have found is £299 on Three.

If i buy it from them will it be locked to three ?

Worth checking to see if it's unlocked, or if it can be, as it's a PAYG, then you have the option of using alternative networks, like 3, who have unlimited data, although not such a good network.

You can get the 4 from apple for £319 unlocked for any network. Remember something about it locking to the first network you use though?

If you buy from apple it will always be an unlocked handset.

Other iPhones can be unlocked for a fee through your network provider (£20 iirc).

Check out how much of the 8Gb will be eaten by the OS, if she wants to put a bit of music on etc. thats not a lot of space.
