Hey folks,

I am in South Wales next weekend to see some family. I am thinking about taking the bikes and going to BPW on the sunday to introduce it to my 8 year old daughter. We will only want to do a lap or two of Kermit (unless she fancies a blue), so want to buy a Pay As You Go uplift pass.

I see you can only buy these on the day and they cannot guarantee them being available, which i fully understand. Ideally i would prefer not making the detour to find out they arent available.

so has anyone used them previously? or tried to and been unable to get them? I am trying to gauge the likelihood of passes being available.

I did email BPW to see if they could give me an idea, for example, do they always sell out by 9:01, or are they generally always a few available. Obviously they couldn't commit to anything and gave a very open ended answer. Again, i understand this, but some historic data would've been useful.

The other option is to hope for the best then tow her up the pedal up if there is no availability. Proper bike. No motors. I've never done the climb, so other than the length, i dont know how tough it is.

Your experiences are very welcome!

Yes, it was a pita. Went with a mate and 3 kids. You used to be able to PAYG on the uplift line. When we went a year and a bit ago you had to buy passes at the sign in desk, and could only buy a maximum of 2 each in the morning, same in the afternoon. So we could only get 4 runs.

Really sucked, as the kids wouldn't have got full value from a 50 quid ticket, and when I asked beforehand we weren't told they're was a limit.

This may have changed, but I'd double triple check beforehand!

a max of two runs will probably be more than enough, but good to know regardless!

No issue with getting PAYG tho?

Mate of mine has used PAYG with no problems, was midweek though.

We went last September, and as we only arrived Friday lunchtime, I asked about PAYG but was told there was no availability/capacity. Weekends, no chance I'd have thought.

We went again a couple of weeks ago. I didn't ask as we had full days uplift passes, but it was a little less busy / virtually no queuing for the uplift on the Friday, so maybe PAYG would have been an option?

We went last year, all of us had day passes but one, he checked in several times to try and get some single run passes but couldn’t get a single one. Rode up once for one ride down. If travelling, don’t risk it.

I was there this weekend and on Saturday there was no chance. Yesterday afternoon the numbers really died off after lunch so may have been possible.
