Long story short...

We are invited to friend's place in N Wales tomorrow. Their pup has just had it's first jabs. Friend is worried that our pooch may compromise hers, esp. re:Parvo.

Our dog, lets call him Max, is fully up to date with his jabs. He's a rehomed dog but we have his records.
Max, DoB 19/04/2014
NobivacDHP and NobivacL4 on 29/08/15.
NobivacDHP and NobivacL4 and NobivacKC on 26/09/15
NobivacDHP and NobivacL4 on 31/07/17
RESTART-27/04/19
NobivacL4 and NobivacKC on 27/04/19

Tick boxes on his records indicate that he is vaccinated against distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parvovirus and infectious bronchitis.
NobivacL4 on 25/05/19

So- would the dogs meeting be a problem?

No - your dog will pose no greater threat to the pup than you do. Modern parvo virus vaccines are very sound. After the initial course parvo is covered for 3 years. Your dog doesn't appear to have missed on that score - although his lepto (L4) did lapse once. Unless your dog is ill I'd have no qualms with him meeting even an unvaccinated pup.

Gowrie and cloudnine have answered your question but it seems there may be underlying problems not concerning the aforementioned virus.

How so? We are meeting mates who have a new puppy and want to be careful.

Your dog will be fine - i.e. won't be a cause of infection to the pup. Not all owners have dogs vaccinated, hence why the pup's not allowed out/in contact with other dogs.

We introduced two new kittens to our house earlier than we wanted (about 4 weeks before we wanted them) as one of our cats has calcivirus (cat flu) but hasn't had symptoms for months and he'd been vaccinated as well (his cat flu came out as gingivitus - so all his teeth came out).

Anyway, we need not have worried, kittens got their vaccinations at correct times, and they are fine. Rescue cat's not been ill at all since losing his teeth.

It's a bit of a catch 22, you're not supposed to allow contact with other dogs until their jabs are up but they say socialisation should be done around 10 - 12 weeks!

I would say the risk of long term issues due to lack of socialisation outweighs the risks of parvo
