Parking sensor adjustment?

So, had to replace the grill on my car after an interface with a pheasant on the M74, which was done by a local body shop. As this is a B9 A4 the inner two parking sensors are on this, and they seem to be picking up the road as well as objects in front of the car.

I’ve read that sometimes they need to be recalibrated - anyone know if this is a home job or if not, how big a job it is (and who could do it)? TIA

Can you not just turn them off?

I could, but it’s not really a solution as I’d probably forget to turn them back on when I need them (and also wife drives my car semi-regularly, and she would definitely just assume they work, given experience with electronics in the house).

Maybe they just got damaged and need replacement. I've done one in my van and another is now being a bit flakey. I've never heard of them being recalibrated.

Back to the body shop to get them to rectify their mistake, no?

As Cougar said.  Checking them should have been part of the work.

Also as it's a VAG car and knowing what random specs of dust do to the Super B's sensors (that a layer of filth seemingly doesn't) is give them a wipe with a damp cloth.

I had a "malfunctioning" rear sensor the other week. Except it seems to have been the most innocuous little lump of grit on it.  Second time in a year I've had ghost beeping from that.

@cougar Ideally, yes. Several months have passed so might be trickier than I’d like…

@wheelsonfire1 No, they’re on an unpainted part of the grille. Having had another look, I’m not certain they’ve been lined up with the holes in the grille properly but I need to find another similar vintage A4 to confirm…

And so, having decided they were definitely misaligned I took it in to Volksmaster in Bury to see how much they wanted to fix it.

Five minutes (and no charge) later one of the chaps had popped them back into alignment which seems to have solved the problem. So, that deserves a shout out for good service, I think.
