Has anyone visited Y Wydfa this summer? I'm going in August and aiming to start from Pen y pass. As I understand it, I can either prebook the car park at Pen Y Pass (for £30!) or park and ride from Nant Peris. What's the likelihood of parking in Nant Peris on a Saturday morning?

No chance! Use the park and ride - it’s a good service, although they will be busy too. Start really early is my advice!

No chance

I was planning on parking in Nant Peris for the park and ride, should I try somewhere else? We're staying in a hotel and breakfast is served at 7am so that limits our starting time.

Yr Wyddfa 😉

(sorry)

Still streets ahead of when someone puts 'Snowden'.

Back to the OP, last time I went up I parked in Lanberis opposite the station and took the bus to pen y pass walked up the Miners and then down the Llanberis path back to the car.

Thanks, we're staying in Llanberis the night before so maybe its easiest to get the P&R from there. I did Google Yr Wyddfa but I fear I may have copy/pasted my previous search from the omnibox rather than the result 😐

Sounds like a good plan - then you won’t need to park and can get straight on the bus from the town. I would guess that would work fine - and you’ll already be on the bus before the Nant Peris pile on! Enjoy, it’s fabulous there, walked the Watkin and South Ridge in June

Which is a far nicer route than PyG/Miners. Though I agree with above, if going from PyP use the bus.

I've done most of the routes with Bert - I once managed to get one of the last spots in Pen-Y-Pass car park but according to my phone this was at 8:04am in February. My favourite route is the Rangers path as it's usually the quietest.

Quite a few field overflow car parks in Nant Peris if the P & R car park is full, just up from the Vaynol Arms IIRC

That one requires scrambling? We're going with my mother who, whilst hiking fit, probably isn't up for that.
