Taking the bike and me to the Pyrenees on Monday 🙂 Not flown from Bristol before. I see there are two car parks, one 8-10 mins from the terminal, one 3-4 mins. Worth the extra tenner for the closer one?
I ask because my experience of hoiking heavy and cumbersome bike bags on and off buses has not been a pleasant one.
Thanks.

Usually always, but the car parking on site at Brizzle is down a hill from the terminal and so could be a bit interesting with a loaded trolley / bike bag.
I'd still probably pay for it though, as it always feels better when you return to be able to get to your car quickly.
have a good trip Al.
en famille, or with some of the ledbury exiles?
Are you going to Luchon?
Thanks Geoff. 50 quid for a week is pretty cheap anyway compared to even Brum. In London that'd get you about 10 mins.
Mark - nah off with some old Chiltern friends to see an ex-pat near Perpignan. Hols en famille when I get back. Two weeks off - luxury!
Well worth using the on-site parking. Its a short walk if you get a space in the middle, trollies are payed for unless you are lucky enough to find a discarded one though. Its one of the fastest airports for going from landing to driving. Checking in and security is another matter.
enjoy. pics please.
Shall sort pics definitely.
I'm travelling RyanAirAge so expect the entire flight process to be horrible. After being charged 80 quid to portage the bike and a further 12 quid for the privilege of paying for the ticket, my expectations are very low.
Bristol Airport has the worst security process in the UK.
They deliberately process slowly so you are almost forced to purchase "fasttrack" for a £5.
No free plastic bags either.
And they charge for trollies!

? I've never paid it and I use Bristol airport quite a lot - longest I've queued has been about 15 mins - usually more like 5. Don't really see that as something to get stressed about.
The furthest parking space is about 300m from the terminal. Bristol is very civilised for an airport.
Well I'll get there super early (for a super early) flight and see what's what. Brum used to be okay until they merged the security for the two terminals. Now it's a bloody nightmare. And looking where Bristol Airport is, they should have named it Bridgwater North!

Try it at 7 in the morning mate.
The queue stretches from the security, down the stairs and across the main departure hall.
I've seen the longest security queue and the second longest check-in queue ever there, I've also been checked-in and through security without breaking stirde.

Frequently have. Never seen the queue beyond the top of the escalator.
I've never had a queuing issues in Bristol and I use it a lot. I do a lot of short European trips for work and flying hand luggage only I'm often through security only 20 minutes after leaving my front door in Ashton. If travelling on holiday changeover days I guess it could take a longer.
edit: I'm really should have kept my mouth shut as I'm flying every week in August so something is bound to go horribly wrong!
Hmm well by the time I'd finished waffling, nearest car park was full so now 1/2 mile away. For £3 I caved in and bought the fast track. Really hate being rushed in airports.
Anyone know where the drop off for the bike bags are with RyanAir?
Parking is easy - short hop from the terminal. One of the buses will take your bike bag if you don't want to wheel/carry it.
Security queues - about as Meh as any other airport - not as bad as some are saying, but not as good as some are saying either.
Upstairs has been transformed into an over expensive ****athon bar/restaurant area - downstairs is overcrowded. But the bar upstairs serves Butcombe so not all bad 🙂
RyanAir?
😯
There's one drop for outsize baggage in the check-in hall. Pretty obvious where it is when you see it.
Ta. I know I know. Only way I could get to the Pyrenees without going to London or Manchester. Last year Flybe had a great service from Brum. But not this year. I did swear never to fly RA again after being traumatised a few years back.
I have set my expectations to the low point of zero. If it's anything but unrelentingly rubbish, I'll be surprised.
I don't expect to be surprised.
I use these people for parking at Bristol

£43 for 16days in August. You guys must have money to burn using the onsite parking. 😯
How much is the onsite parking? I'm about 15 minutes away, not far from the WCP place.
