Hi,
Going to Twickenham to watch the rugby on Saturday. 4 people but my brother in law is recovering from a brocken achilles tendon he can walk but was hoping to to get some where close enough to park where we could get some food before and then get a taxi to within less than a km of the stadium. Is this possible, obvioulsy want as short / cheap taxi ride as possible.
Cheers for any pointers.
You want to be out Whitton way I'd say, I know some people who always drive in and park there. Short walk to the stadium if he's up to it, pubs not as busy as Twickenham high st (thats not to say they aren't busy, they are), also a much quicker getaway after the game.
Sad to say it, but I doubt you'll have any luck with a cab unless you get up to the ground very early.
Food? Well, there are all sorts of places to go! I like a burger and a pint by the river at the White Swan.
I fear we'll get utterly spannered though, so I might not watch! 😕
CFH are you English or Welsh.
50/50....
The rugby playing half is Welsh, though! 🙁
I always drive to St Margarets, can usually park there, and the Turks Head on Winchester Road is great for a pre match lunch/drink. Just under a mile to the stadium.
Best way to avoid walking is to take the free bus service from Richmond, plenty of places eat there and park albeit at a cost.
Mefty any more info on bus from Richmond. Where and when?

eating's cheating! get urself to the hole in the wall at waterloo before great rugby atmosphere even if you do wear a silly red shirt!
No silly red shirt here, its England all the way.
Thanks for the advice all. CFH I do hope you get utterly spannered (love the phrase).
Try here for parking - a few places very close to Twickenham.
Food-wise - A mate of mine's dad used to go to Twickenham with his rugger mates. They'd cook up a load of sausages at home, whack them in a couple of large thermos flasks and then make their own hotdogs once they arrived. Used to generate a lot of good banter from the other fans walking by....You may be looking for something more classy than that though! 😀
Sorry have not looked in for a few days, there is a free bus service on most match days from near the station to the ground. Normally there is a big queue but it moves very quickly. It is pretty painless to illustrate I have used it when entertaining clients.
