Hey,
Trying to buy a ULEZ compliant Citreon Berlingo. There seem to be not a huge amount of them on the market.
The Parker's guide suggests the vehicle I am trying to buy (2015 and in the normal spec) suggests I should be paying a Private Price of £5,540 - £6,525 and a Dealer Price of £6,870 - £7,695
A quick look on auto trader would suggest this is a couple of grands out. A local model came up for sale privately at £7690 which seems like a lot.
Is it it a case of just waiting, or are these price guides a load of rubbish to allow dealers to buy vehicles cheaply off people?
Any advice?
Joe
Parkers is usually a good guide to prices, but prices just aren't in a usual state at the moment.
They are stupidly high and seem to be rising all the time... Cars I was looking at about 6 months ago are £4-5K more now - they were only about 9-10: to start with! My brother is in the trade and thinks they'll drop, but he actually thought they would've dropped by now.
Not sure how Parkers can keep an accurate track on it tbh.

As desperatebicycle says, things are a bit crazy at the moment so it must be difficult to track. Parker's always used to be pretty accurate, I guess the difference between the book price and actual price gives you an idea of the Covid related price increases
Prices are way higher than Parker’s at the minute.
Go on Autotrader and look for the car you want for a guide proce.
As above they are generally accurate but things are off at the moment. Also don't forget prices are variable by locality and by season so Parkers prices are just that. The trade uses Glasses guide which is their 'in house/ price fixing' - delete as appropriate after you purchase - guide to prices.
This might be available to all on the internet now but used to be trade only.
We got offered £9250 last week for our 65 plate Berlingo by Cazoo so I’d say that prices may be a little different to ‘book’.
Parker’s tries to be self fulfilling.
It’s a hangover from when car sales price information was difficult to collate. It really should have no place today, and certainly shouldn’t be considered authoritative.
