Anyone got Paris tips? Just waiting for our flight (me + gf).
Staying in montmartre area. Bit of culture, food, drinking etc

Where you staying in Montmartre
Pretend you can't speak French. They'll love it!
Football ...PSG ,FC Paris or stade de France
Music ...La cigale ,fleche d,or ,bataclan ,Olympia ..always some good music on there
Tourism... Notre dame ,sacred couer,pere lachaise cemetery ,arc de triomph,eiffel tower ,Versailles, catacombs
Good vibes ....walk along the seine ,walk around Montmartre,Latin quarter,
Couple of food tips that might not be on the normal options!

Picture a Parisian bistro, run by an ageing lovable couple. She's a bit of a dragon, but an utterly loveable one. He's clearly enjoyed having the keys to the cellar. Then, add in hearty French food, and excellent wine. (Try the chilled Fleurie. Shouldn't be as good as it is!). That's what it's like. It's real Paris for me, and I love it. Have rolled out of there many, many times!
Go and see the Rat? Disneyland Paris is pretty awesome.
Take clothes pegs to put on your nose when in the Metro to kill the stink of urine. Watch out for pickpockets. When wandering around Montmartre keep your hands in your pockets and ignore anybody who approaches you and tries to snap a bangle on your wrist then make you pay for it.
Lovely city but sick I'm afraid. And I lived there for two years.
Le Cinq, Epicure and L'Atelier by Joel Roubochon if you're up for super fancy food.
Stay clear of Sacre Coeur after about 9'ish.. Gets a bit push and shuv early on with tourists, then gets populated by drunks and pickpockets on the steps. Great view mind so go early. I stay around that area a lot and upper 9th/10th.
If you come out of Abesses Metro facing south, do a right, walk along for about 200mtrs until you come me to a really steep hill with some cobbles on on your right, walk up to the bar a the top (near the church) and sit outside look/face south down the street and look out over the city, sunset is spectacular with a bottle or two of wine..
Moulain Rouge is overrated, but the windmill is nice enough (at the top of the street above the bar I've just mentioned)
The art district is nice and trendy with loads of open bars and small artists in teeny shop doorway studios (near Louvre heading east near the river)
I tend to go to the same places now but are you into tea and cake with a 20's feel? I know of a spectacular little lunch stop..

Why would anyone want to go to Montmartre?
Often end up doing the walk by Canal St Martin, and ending up eating at Hotel du Nord, and humming Amelie theme tune.

Have to admit, sacre Cour was beautiful at midnight - good atmosphere and had the most amazing dinner before. Staying near lamark - couple of nice local bars but need to get over the hangover now!

OP just seen this. Mrs B is Parisienne, we are here now in fact, we know the west side better as thats where we live when here. Glad you went to Sacre Couer st night, it is indeed wonderful. Normal big city advice to keep your wits about you.
Francencour near by is a great little bistro/bar, good for brunch too.
Make sure you walk about, always the best way to see things. The stroll through Garden Tuileries (excuse spelling) then Louvre, the cut down to the river and along to Notre Dams, round the back and over onto Ile de la Cite and then loop back other side of the river for a bit. Eifel tower view from Trocadero.
The refurbushed L'Opera is worth a quick visit

Yes it's touristy, but it is a very pretty area

Monmartre/Sacre Coeur - as an aside there are is a tiny "vineyard" on a scrap of land there amd they have a day or two each year when people come together to pick the grapes and make wine. Pretty amazing in the centre of a city like Paris. Yes the central square may be touristy but its still a real place where locals live and spend time.
Also all tthe steps which lead up/down are heavily used in movies, classic Paris scenes

Yes, you're right, but it does get overemphasised in threads like this (IMO). Lots of other interesting and beautiful places in Paris!!
Another lovely day traipsing round - didn't see masses as lots was closed but Paris has definitely gone up in our estimations! Found a little Italian we're off to for dinner then a couple of drinks in lamark before the night is over I reckon. Back to rainy bristol tomorrow!
