Eddie Howe for Everton?

Not sure I get the Ancelotti thing Madrid can be do short term.
€€€€€€€€€€s
Oh and prestige and better players and very high chance of winning stuff. Would you prefer to coach Kean, Gylfi and Calvert-Lewin or Varane, Kroos and Benzema?
Plus he's got a great excuse to get away from Duncan Ferguson without getting his head kicked in
It's a bit of a risk going to RM at the moment, they are massively in debt, a lot of their main players are getting towards the end of their careers, and likely to receive serious sanctions from uefa for still persisting with the super league project. Their president also seems to be a wannabe banana republic dictator.
Plus Everton didn't really look to be making much progress under Ancelotti, so I don't think they should be too worried that he has moved on.
So who do people think deserve to be nominated for player of the season?
I genuinely don't think there has been a standout player over the course of the whole season, Fernandes would probably be my pick even though he dropped off a bit near the end of the season. I'm not convinced Foden deserved to be shortlisted, but maybe that highlights the lack of quality this year (and let me be clear, I think he's a great player but not player of the season this year).
Ruben Dias - the difference in that defence since he arrived is like night and day
So who do people think deserve to be nominated for player of the season?
Cavani
So who do people think deserve to be nominated for player of the season?
Harry Kane for me. Topped the charts for goals and assists and that's in a bang average team.
So who do people think deserve to be nominated for player of the season?
Luke Shaw for me. He’s been consistently outstanding all season. It’s been a massive two fingers to Maureen who liked to make him the whipping boy, same as he did with Deli Ali at Spurs.
Ruben Dias or Harry Kane, either of them would be deserving winners.
The figures for the city defence with Dias in the team are ridiculous, I think he has had a bigger impact than VVD had at Liverpool, and to do that in his first season in the PL.
I don't accept that spurs are "a bang average side" they have though been mismanaged, and Kane has performed admirably under the circumstances.
Dias got the football writers one didn’t he. Improved as Shaw is a left back in a side that won nothing isn’t going to win it.
Plenty of booing - initially - when players did the Black Lives Matter thing tonight in the England game then drowned out by the majority.
Dias has been brilliant. Gündoğan has had an incredible season at City too. World class. Foden is going to be some player. I think Pep is doing a great job managing him.
With Kane, he’s made Spurs look a better squad than they are. And they finished where? Him and Son have carried that squad.
Bruno and Cavani have both been a joy to watch for us. Amazing to think that Cavani was warming the bench at PSG and came on a free
Plenty of booing – initially – when players did the Black Lives Matter thing tonight in the England game then drowned out by the majority.
I heard that in the CL final as well, it is disappointing. Until that I was starting to think it had passed it sell by date as a symbol, and had just become a greenwashing exercise for the football authorities who haven't made any real changes to back up the public imagery. But it looks like too many still don't get the meaning.
It's utterly depressing. The only time I've ever heard racist chanting at a match was at an Engerland game at Wembley. Fair play to the stewards who booted the meathead doing it out straight away.
Anyway... the Euro's....
The latest booing just seems like one more reason, among many, to dislike Engerland. So we've decided that as our home Brexity nation is so genuinely embarrassingly awful nowadays we're being glory hunters and supporting a team thats actually in with a chance of winning it. So we're supporting Spain.
My two scouse mates have dug out their old Torres tops, my retro Espana shirt arrived yesterday and we've a table booked in the pub for the Spain games 🙂
We're channelling this:
As we're 3 pasty, very un-Spanish looking northern blokes, if anyone asks why we're supporting Spain, we've got our stories. In a game show fashion, see if you can guess which one of our three reasons is actually true:
1) My dad wrote 'Una Paloma Blanca' and we still get the royalties off it.
2) I was born prematurely while my mum and dad were on holiday in Benidorm, so as my birth was registered there I have duel nationality
3) My auntie is good mates with Julio Iglesias and has been to watch Spain matches with him, so the whole family supports Spain in tournaments
Who are you going for this year then? I've stuck a tenner each on Spain (obviously) or Portugal to win it
Would be nice if Engerland didn't qualify for the next WC so you could enjoy the tournament without feeling like you 'ought' to be supporting them against whoever. Obviously I'm aware that there are many members of this forum who don't feel burdened like this 🙂
The whole atmosphere around England football just feels like they've rounded up the idiot fans from all the PL clubs and dumped them in Wemberley. With a shit brass section playing 'The Great Escape' for 90 minutes.
Watched the England game last night. They really are dung. Some great individuals, but they struggled to break down a very average Austrian team. They are so boring to watch. Nice to see Saka get his first goal though.
After watching about ten minutes of that dreary nonsense last night I'm definitely having a bet on them failing to get out of the group. I reckon Scotland will beat them at Wemberley and Croatia will murder them
So we’re supporting Spain.
If you're concerned about racism, I think I'd find a different nation to support...
TBF to England last night, these games a week before the tournament are never going to be entertaining, they're just going through the motions and hoping not to get injured.
With regards the booing, I was half expecting that after some of the crowds in the final Premier league games and the CL final were booing it. I was pleased that the rest of the crowd reacted and started to applaud though.
I've no idea how England will get on in the Euros. I'm preparing myself for disappointment but I haven't completely given up hope on them. Biggest concerns for me are Pickford and the CBs, I just don't trust any of them (other than Maguire who looks like he might miss all the group games anyway).
It’s utterly depressing. The only time I’ve ever heard racist chanting at a match was at an Engerland game at Wembley.
Gonna take a wild guess and say you haven't been to a match in e.g. Italy, Spain, Poland, Croatia, well almost anywhere in europe, Central or South America etc, etc. That would be where no one even attempts to escort to offenders out.
Last weekend thee was plenty of booing at the premier League matches, Leeds being one example.
Probably for the best that TAA is injured, given all the will he won't he over his selection. Lingard to replace him?
Lingard is a rubbish right back
😜
Ward-Prowse would be a better replacement as he's an all round midfielder
Taking Maguire and Henderson is a huge mistake in my opinion.
Unfit players in the squad never works, Keegan and Brooking in 82, Robson in 86&90, Lineker in 88, Beckham in 2002 etc etc.
Still, looking forward to a feast of football.
spuds conte talks collapse
Rooney 2006 as well trailmonkey. I think it shows some of the limitations of England’s squad if they’re pinning their hopes on bang average semi fit players. Lots of talent going forward so with the dodgy defence and keeper they could be entertaining!
spuds conte talks collapse
That's no suprise, would have been fun watching the unfolding trainwreck, but he was clearly never a good fit.
I wouldn't call Henderson average, but I also wouldn't select him given he's not played for months
Yeah, I was maybe being a bit harsh - his value to Liverpool was more obvious when he was out.
I really rate Henderson, if he’s fit, he plays every game and is second on the team sheet after Kane. His absence might be a lucky accident though as it looks like Bellingham will start and he could be a real star at this tournament.
Maguire being missing is probably a bigger headache. Personally I don’t think he’s anything other than a solid club player but at least he’s solid. Stones, Mings and Walker all have mistakes oozing out of them and I think we’ll miss Maguire more than Henderson.
Hoping that he can find a way of starting Kane, Grealish, Foden and Mount as a front four.
I would classify Maquire as exactly the same mistake laden defender as the others, he has been lucky to get away with it this season, but the mistakes have been there just not punished.
Walker is perhaps the unlucky one to be labelled as mistake prone, most of the mistakes he makes are due to his recovery runs getting back into defensive positions and making last ditch tackles, it looks worse in microanalysis than his competition for the spot who are just caught out of position and not in the camera shot when the oposition scores.
Hoping that he can find a way of starting Kane, Grealish, Foden and Mount as a front four.
I think that would work, Grealish, Foden and Mount are all pretty flexible as a 3 just behind Kane. I think it would be about the disipline to fill the spaces as they rotate around the pitch rather than strict positions.
I think a 3-2-3-1 would probably be the best option to get the most out of the attacking talent, but I expect GS will try and get at least 3 fullbacks on the pitch in every game so it probably won't happen.
And I agree about bellingham, a couple of months ago I thought he was another "kid" being hyped up far too early, but his performances in the CL 1/4 final was fantastic best player for BD by a mile. Still needs to be treated right too much hype could damage his progression.
I bloody love Roy Keane! 😂

Are we all ready for Engerlands racist supporters doing their thing again?
Marcus Rashford has been named as captain so I’m sure they’ll all be suitably outraged
The national anthem was enthusiastically sung, what happened to mumbling though it embarrassed at singing praise to being ruled over?
Some booing again.
Also a bit ****ed off at BLM being labelled as a "political movement" it is the start of it being marginalised and put back in its box by the populists. That those who take the knee have to distance themselves from BLM is just absolutely ****ing ridiculous.
Apparently, according to the ’all lives matter’ ****-wits, wanting racial equality is ‘Marxist’.
The MiL keeps posting shit like that on her FB. My wife and eldest daughter challenge her on it, and she keeps playing the "I'm just an old lady, I don't understand why it's a problem" card
If you don't understand it, don't **** post it then!
Well that was, erm, well, what was it?
Has anyone got any paint I can watch drying for the second half?
Dire!
I’m going to have a punt on a Henderson howler to let Romania nick a win
Watching Ian Wright, who’s a ****ing legend, sighing and resigned to saying that some Engerland fans will never change, no matter how many times you explain BLM is utterly depressing.
So the Engerland fan base is chock full of racists and that’s just the way it is? Brilliant!
Rashford has really gone off the boil, he's reminding me of Mane at the moment
I must have been watching a different game. OK, not a classic but some lovely pass and move stuff on the edge of the box with Grealish, Sancho, etc. Hit the bar twice and the Romanian defenders did a good job of getting in the right spaces to block off the pull backs.
So the Engerland fan base is chock full of racists and that’s just the way it is? Brilliant!
The national team has always attracted more than its fair share of knuckle draggers, but let's not pretend it's just football, the country has always had its share and recent developments have empowered them again, at the ground and in general.
Henderson has been a passenger ever since coming on, WTF makes him think he should be taking a penalty, put personal glory above the team there.
I went to an El Classico match in Barcelona a few years back and the level of vicious racism was quite shocking for me as an English football supporter. I'm sure supporting Spain will be a great way to signal your virtue during the Euros but anyone with a bit of football knowledge will consider you a mug if you tell them your reasons.
Why is a player who’s not played for half a season even in the squad, never mind wearing the captains armband and taking penalties?
One of the many reasons (I’m a United fan, shall we talk about Becks and Phil Neville?), along with their racist fans, that stupid ****ing brass band, I can’t be arsed with Engerland.
Can’t wait to hear what Keano’s got to say about Henderson missing the penalty 😂
I know.
Although the 5live crew were quite complimentary, his work off the ball organising and calling when to drop and when to press was first rate apparently. Just a shame how can score 1-1 from 12 yards!
England seemed a lot more vulnerable after he replaced Phillips, so his organisation wouldn't appear to be particularly effective.
Just a shame how can score 1-1 from 12 yards!
Could have been worse, if a city player had taken it they would still be looking for the ball.
Yeah Henderson is terrible... playing at a level not out of the top 3 for last 3 years and in those three years won a champions league, world club title and a premier league... let’s pick a player instead who has had 1 season in the premier league and finished 10th ish
Ahhh yes, the god given right of super league club players to be in the national team ahead of fit and in form players from "smaller" clubs.
.... despite the fact they've not kicked a ball in a competitive match for 6 months
Typical Engerland. How many times have they taken players to tournaments who are clearly nothing like match fit?
Can we just once again heed the words of wisdom of Roy Keane. He’s right, clearly
https://twitter.com/itvfootball/status/1401563941906567172?s=21
Not sure God is involved...think those in the England set up will be the ones to judge his fitness. Not those outside of the set up.
I believe Roy Keane is correct... in that if an individual is unfit or has a current injury they should not go. The statement that CLEARLY Jordan is not fit ... how does he know ... he does not have the data, stats or medical reports/assessments.
Can’t wait to hear what Keano’s got to say about Henderson
missing the penaltyhaving the penalty saved
Rashford only scored his because he's learned BS cheaty run-up tactics from Fernandes. I really don't think they should be allowed when goalies aren't allowed to move off their line.
One scored, one didn’t.
Ones been playing regular premiership football week in week out all season and has 21 goals and 12 assists.
Ones not kicked a ball in anger for half a year and pulled rank on an in-form striker to pass the ball to the keeper
Engerland all over
They won’t get out of the group
I'd like England to treat this tournament as a training exercise for the new players breaking through into the team - Rice, Mount, Foden, Sancho and Bellingham - he's 17 you know;)
The World Cup is next year so getting these guys experienced in playing tournament football would be a big benefit.
Portugal my tip for the winners also long as Ronaldo does not make it all about him.
White gets the nod for the squad, I thought he looked fairly decent last night, more so than Mings, probably should be going instead of an unfit Maguire though and they could then still get Ward Prowse into the squad.
Once you get down to the final few names in the squad, they won't be getting much game time if any, but if they are needed better they could give an option to change a game rather than just performing card tricks at the team hotel.
Really pleased for Ben White. I'd be a lot more comfortable with him in defence than some of the other CBs Southgate is taking. He's probably our 3rd best CB (that says more about the other 2 than him though) but he just looks like he's going to be a top player. No doubt in another season or 2 he'll be off to one of the big six and we'll spend the money on a bang average championship/Eredivisie striker 😀
It seems like according to the loony Marxist BBC there's good people on both sides of the booing taking the knee "debate".
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/newsbeat-57382945
Best summed up, as is so often the case, by Stan Chow. This image pretty much includes the best things about everything football related at the moment.

I’ve got Stan Chow prints of Luke Shaw and De Gea up already but think I’m going to have to get this one too
Booing is a way football fans can communicate dissatisfaction," says Andrew, a football fan in his 40s who was at both England games this week - and joined in the booing when players took the knee.
Andrew, who is based in Lincoln, tells Radio 1 Newsbeat he booed to show his objection to what he sees as "an identity politics agenda that focuses on black people and skin colour, when as far as I am concerned we are all England fans regardless of colour".
"Some seem to genuinely believe booing is an act of racism - I reject that," he adds.
Well of course it is ****ing "identity politics focusing on black people and skin colour" that just describes racism and what taking a knee is fighting against. Just describing racism in more words as you boo the fight against it doesn't change the fact that your booing is a racist act. Why the **** do the BBC broadcast this crap without pointing out the logical gymnastics these racists are performing to excuse their racism, that isn't balance.
Well according to a good number of Tory MP’s this isn’t the right to be racist at all. It’s a ‘Freedom of Expression’ issue
Yes, freedom to express your racist views.
I actually think that it fits in perfectly with Brexit Britain as it is now toe-curlingly embarrassing to be English
Andrew may as well said "I'm not a Racist but...." and should be called out on it.
Well according to a good number of Tory MP’s this isn’t the right to be racist at all. It’s a ‘Freedom of Expression’ issue
I'm sure their commitment to freedom of expression would be just the same if it was about, say, booing our national anthem, or perhaps booing the minute's silence to commemorate the Duke of Edinburgh's death. Oh no wait...
What's everyone's opinions on Fonseca as new Spurs manager? (seems to be highly likely at this stage). I haven't seen another Spurs fan being positive yet.. hoping we're proven wrong on this.
I doubt it will convince Kane to stay…..
I doubt it will convince Kane to stay…..
I don't think anyone other than Pep would manage that.. whether Levy decides to keep him against his will for another year is another matter..
Football has always been a safe space for racists. Binners pointed out that he never hears racism at Old Trafford. Well I remember during the noighties I used to take the train down to London every Saturday afternoon, often coinciding with the (many) Man Utd fans returning down south after the match.
Well they may have kept their thoughts to themselves whilst on the terraces but it was a different story on the train, all that sublimated racism came out. Any person of colour who happened to be walking past was commented on. The sense that all the racism that they had managed to control for 90 minutes needed a release was palpable. There was often a very evil energy circulating in the carriage.
During lockdown the kneeling thing could be seen as a symbolic gesture, now that the crowds are back in the stadiums it becomes more than that.
There's a lot of talk about the self identified core football fans and what they want. I'm sure those c***'s on the train would consider themselves 'core' football fans but I don't give a shit about what they want. Revenue streams come from more than gate returns these days and if they become ostracized from the game then more's the better.
When you think about Colin Kapernick, Naomi Osaka or the England football team remember Carlos Smith, Muhamed Ali and the sporting boycott of South Africa. Sport has been an incredibly powerful tool for bringing about social change. The right wants to call it a culture war but they have no culture with which to fight.
It would be delightful if Fonseca could outperform Moanio at both clubs.
As the Nina Simone song goes:
Schoolboy cops, tryin' to tell us it's a communist plot...."
I thought she was refering to George Wallace and Bull Connor and J Edgar Hoover but she could have been talking about Andrew Neil and Boris Johnson.
Anyway, I always thought Marcus Rashford was more Leninist Marxist rather than Marxist Leninist. He's definitely left leaning though (It's where he plays).
