This is a proper STW question. I have a small woodburner which sits in the engineering opening for the fire. This opening is currently rendered. Can I paint this, does it need to be heat resistant paint, or will any good quality paint do this?

I lined mine in cement board (hardiebacker) and just painted with normal emulsion, seems fine up to now and it gets pretty warm!

Fireproof cement ? Painted with normal paint mixed with some upvc glue on ours .
