I know there's a few manly men on here, so...

The tank has a bit of surface rust so I guess will need wire brushing, sanding, priming and painting? I'm looking for suggestions as to what primer and paint would be best.

Ta much.

Zinc based primer to keep rust at bay (or Hammerite).

Thanks chaps.

Hammerite sprung to my mind at first. Perhaps I've been over thinking it. I thought perhaps there was a a special paint that the tank makers used, since they are all the same horrible green...

If you use hammerite you may have to remove any powerdcoating that's there first. The xylene (is it still this?) thinners in hammerite will turn it to a peely-crispy goo otherwise.
