Suffering with whiplash injury. Didn't hurt much after the crash so carried an as normal but 24hrs latter I am in constant pain, not able to turn head much particularly to the right and can't lay down so trying to sleep sat upright on the sofa. Been to the doc and stocked up on anti inflams, pain killers and going to rest up for a couple of days.

Really keen to get back to fitness as is I had next week booked off.

Any tips to aid recovery, exercises etc. Any advice and piss taking gratefully received.

5 mins with a physio got me a lot of movement back in my neck after landing on my head the other day... Got a few exercises to do... Well worth it..

Yes thinking that might be the way to go, got to get rid of pain first and get some sleep.

I've just recovered from a very sore neck - facet joint inflammation and muscle spasm. Not a whiplash injury but I had very limited rotation and would be in agony trying to get my head on to or off a pillow and could get very little sleep. It actually hurt being a passenger in the car as any tiny bump or any corner had me reaching to hold my head upright! Looked like a total dafty.

I went to see a physio and an osteopath in the 1st week and once it started to calm down they helped to get it moving again which really helped it to recover. Would recommend a visit even if it does cost a bit - I found it worth while. Just my, non professional, opinion but I would leave it a few days to get your best value from the visit. You may be to acute for them too to do much with at the moment. I may be talking rubbish but that's my experience.

Its very common having back pain or neck pain after getting up from bed.The best advice is to improve the sleeping positions and also put the proper pillows under the neck or back. Regular exercise in morning helps to get rid of jerks and shoulder pain.

When you've recovered sufficiently hit the gym, . . . my neck has been trouble free (touch wood) since i started doing a few weights . . .
