So, pretty heavy smartphone user.
Broke phone a week ago and, to be honest, not missing it. Thinking of going more offline and getting a pager instead. Do they still exist?
Why?
Why not get a crappy old mobile to fill the void.
You'll piss off anyone who needs to contact you as it's usually a premium rate number.
A pager? 😆
Did anyone use them even in the 90's? Not including the village drug dealer.
Still used in some hospitals. They look really clunky and are a bit annoying because a lot of the time it would be so much easier to send a text! 🙂
had one 03 to 06 I think, great bit of kit for work where camera phones were banned.Did anyone use them even in the 90's? Not including the village drug dealer.

I take it you had one of them camera pagers then 😉
Compromise would be to wait for the relaunched 3310?
^ that's what I'm thinking too.
Pager would be being stubborn/pigheaded and a weird enjoyment in retraining my friends in learning to deal with a new communications paradigm
Perhaps you need a 'dumb phone'?

EDIT (beaten to it by a mere 9 hours 😳 )
I have an old iPhone 4S as a backup, still allows me to iMesagage, WhatsApp, email etc
I've only just bought my first smart phone, after using a dumb phone (Nokia) since '99, supplemented with an iPod Touch (which does pretty much all of the smart stuff that a smart phone does) since about '08. Dumb phones are nice and small, crazy cheap (mine was about £10) and the battery lasts about two weeks. I found not having Whatsapp was about the most annoying thing.

90s and 00s I occasionally used one.
Less than £13 for a none smartphone
Well you learn something new everyday. Forgot about the doctors on call thing.
Bodgy: Love that Punkt phone.
The Punkt. MP 01 is a stylish, well-crafted mobile phone which focuses on modern simplicity, inside and out. It makes phone calls and sends texts. That’s all.

229,00 £
I think they've got the decimal point in the wrong place there. What's it run on, mermaid's tears and unicorn semen?
Yeah, that's why I don't have one. My old Nokia does the same thing and costs nothing because it was rediscovered in the bottom of a draw. And it also doesn't look like something you'd try and force your nan to use, as in Drac's example.
