I did, and the first few packs were great - but then the quality seemed to dwindle. I didnt realise how much until I switched back to my local roasting shop's bean, and got a huge amount of crema back.
Yes for a bit, got a particularly bland tasting batch and cancelled. Too expensive for the variable quality.
I do and overall pretty pleased. I find the variation in coffees good (in that I notice the change in taste rather than it being expansive) and much better than my previous coffee supply which was lavazza red or whatever else was in the supermarket. That said I use an aeropress as it's convenient at work so don't get crema anyway. Is that an indication of the quality of the grind/coffee?
As someone who is relatively clueless on coffee if those that cancelled could suggest an alternative with similar convenient delivery it would be helpful. Ta
used em for over a year now - good service, pretty good coffee* in the last few months and always tastes better than any supermarket stuff
not too expensive when put into comparison alongside specialist stores (Bettys, Lanes et al) and other online co's (Hasbean was one I tried as well - and is pretty good too)
have a look at bella barista and hasbean if you want other online options - gaslight blend from BB is nice)
aeropress & cafetiere - not espresso or moka pot btw
I swapped from pact to has bean and I'm happy with it. Works out a little cheaper than pact and it seems to be fairly consistent.
I like them. I drink a reasonable amount of coffee and the packs turn up just about when the last one runs out. I like that.
Gotmanma -
My local Bean Shop is 'The Bean Shop', Perth.
Similar convenience, but do some lovely dark blends.
Espresso blend and Blend 67 are lovely. Plus they do points, so you get a free bag after a certain amount of times.
There's others, like HappyDonkey, and Has Bean, but I like buying from a local roaster 🙂
I found I could never quite judge the delivery time right with them, but the service was great, and the coffee was good as well.
To be fair - one of the few on line companies I have used who have never claimed to have missed me or offered a discount to entice me back.
Oh, and Gotmama - try your Aeropress upside-down, you'll get crema that way 🙂
Just don't tip it over or you'll end up getting sent home with burns to your hands!
To be fair their marketing is spot on, as is their online shop and service. I just don't think their beans are as good as others.
I subscribed for a couple of months... but i found the coffee rather bad overall.... too much emphasis on additional flavours.... the final straw that made me cancel was the Earl Grey flavoured coffee ......
great marketing ....... not so great product
Nice people, good service but I found the coffee far too acidic for my taste (tried about 6 different ones )
Their major benefit for me is that the packs go through a letterbox - plus the ordering/rearranging is very easy
Other suppliers should think about similar packaging IMO
Had a brief try but the coffee I had was pretty ropey so I went back to Has Bean. Were they not available I'd rather use our local old-school roastery of the "Old Brown Java" and "Monsooned Malabar" style than what I got from Pact.
Oh, and Gotmama try your Aeropress upside-down, you'll get crema that way
This puzzles me... Please explain.
Just signed up for some work supplies. We have a team cafetiere and all are impressed with the current one. We've been round numerous varieties from a wide range of sources - supermarket, Whittards, Artisan Roast and Valvona & Crolla and the Pact probably comes in the top 3.
I was a bit concerned how few varieties that Pact have so will watch with interest on whether the next batch gets a bit ropey.
I think both my local roasters do mail order, redroaster and small batch coffee. I tend to use small batch purely as redroaster is right in the middle of Brighton and its difficult to park legally to pop in.
Be interested to see how people think it compares to the hasbean and pact.
I tried a few of the mail order places like HasBean and Pact. If you like modern, light, sour roasts and don't mind paying upwards of £6 for 250g then they're great......but I use about a packet a week so bloody expensive.
If you want good quality, classic european roasts I'd recommend Martin Carwardine Buying 2kg at a time it works out at £3.50 for 250g which is supermarket prices for really good coffee.
Wanted to send a few packs of coffee as a birthday present, but Pact wouldn't do this. Stewarts of Trent Bridge in contrast couldn't be more helpful and rang back after to check that it had arrived. Recipient loved it, so all-in-all, a result.
great marketing
Nice people
