My Kids school PTA is going to buy a new PA speaker system with an integrated CD player for general music playing duties around school it obviously needs to be robust as its primary objective as it will get used by the kids.

They want to buy this Coomber Dance combo which does look very good but £800 is a large amount of money for a small primary school to spend so thought I would ask if anybody knew of anything else that was around.

They don't want to have to deal with cables etc. of linking a CD player to a speaker which I do understand, Teachers have enough to do without having to worry about tech where cables break and go missing etc.

Any other options greatly received.

Thanks for the links, I was hoping somebody would actually have some real world experience of a similar item.

We know that the Coomber kit is good quality from other schools experience so without some actual experience we will probably be forced to go down that route.

Wow!!! How expensive!? Seems rather overpriced and can't find specs on speakers/output/spl/etc.

I would have a look here:

Can't give you any recommendations, I would stick with well known brands such as Bose/Denon/Yamaha/Peavey/etc

Its not sound quality you are paying for here. It's Teacher, Pupil and School Proofness!. You could get cheaper but they would be broken and stolen in nae time. The 200 quid plastic versions fall apart in no time and are a pain to store due to stupid shape.

I operate at both extremes with Childrens Theatre. We either go disposable/bad for the environment or Super Robust.
